First episode sets up the Bhallas and the Sabherwals. Both with different economic status but same regressive thoughts. Both don’t support higher education for women. Both differetiate between beti and bahu. Both seeing betas as an asset. Shaurya doesn’t want his girlfriend to pursue her chance at a PhD while Mr. Bhalla wants his daughter married off. Devi sees the bahu as someone who takes care of the family while Ramesh Bhalla sees a beti as a weight to unload. Anokhi’s dream was nicely shot. You can see Deba trying a few Punjabi words here “Tussi” paenda and all.😁

The actor who plays Mr.Bhalla is so good! He’s domineering and almost makes us really worried about the girl he’s reprimanding for trying to run away with her boyfriend. The sets also look so nice. Looks like they shot these parts in Patiala so the Bhalla house looks a little different.

I looove the Anokhi BGM that they play when Aastha ma’am gives her the beautiful pep talk before the debate 😍

Seeing Shaurya so stoic and unfeeling when he sees the text from Shagun feels so strange and weird no?!😁

Loved the intercut scenes with Anokhi and Shaurya. Anokhi talking about equality and choices for women that don’t require a woman to get permission from a man. While Shaurya unhappy that Shagun didn’t seek his permission first and putting “choices” before her between him and her education. One thing I agree with Shaurya is that he was truthful about what he wanted from the beginning. Either she gives a full yes to being the Sabherwal bahu or its a full no from him. It’s not fair but we all make choices in life.

The splicing of the Anokhi’s debate scenes with Shaurya and Shagun’s conversation is so well done!

When Shaurya says that “ When my ‘son’ calls for his mom , he shouldn’t hear that his mom is missing because of her job”, he already decided on the gender of his kid🤪🙄 ( also he’s hasn’t really changed when it comes to thinking of bacche. 😄)

Psst.. Can someone make a VM on all the times that Shaurya stands by and supports Anokhi , with Anokhi’s dialogues of “Behind every successful woman..” 😁😁 perfect anticlimax for those dialogues.😍🙌

Loved the set up of Rama Bhalla who cowers and picks up after her husband but also gives Laali dirty looks 😆! She has a quiet strength about her. In a world that has taken away her choices, she works within the system. Her voicelessness allows Anokhi to have a voice.

Yes ! Same..I love Rama Bhalla and her silent courage. We often undermine the role of such mothers as meek women unfortunately.

Aastha is the guru that a girl needs. She’s supportive and sees the uniqueness of Anokhi. Also, Shanoor has my heart! Shaan is there in the family picture but for all purposes he’s like an outsider. Devi takes credit for his son and Tejvi displaces him off to the side and away from his son.

I totally forgot Bebo did the intro for her cool bro 😎. I remember not being impressed at all with this Shaurya guy’s personality when he just stood there not at all upset when Shaan was almost being bullied by his brothers and BM.

Visually speaking, looooved Jugni and the entire train sequence! Loved Shaurya’s descent down the steps! Loved how the Sabherwal men all came in for the photo. Loved Shagun 1.0 turning around in her gorgeous outfit. Also Sabherwal House is beautiful!

Yes yes yes!!!! I so loved everything about the first episode too!

All in all, what a power packed, hard hitting first episode! Editing / shots / sets everything was on point!

Have you noticed the creatives team has completely been changed .

In the second episode .. story and screenplay? It was by Ila Bedi Dutta and Shweta Bishnoi/. there’s a Star Plus creative team too. (Nilambar Majumdad and Namrata Roy) . No mention of Manjiri Mukul or Trisha.

I am curious to check when the team changed. Let’s find out as we rewatch 😊
