I believe bit is shaurya's conditioning and his abandonement issues that played when he decided to break his engagement with shagun. His insecurity and ego got the best of him and he did not even want to listen to what shagun wanted to say .I just wish that cvs had kept shaguns character like that and not tampered .Atleast then bringing shagun back during the time when shaurya was falling in Love with anokhi would have made more sense and probably would have also helped shaurya realize the difference between his and anokhis soch in a better way.

As much as I hate Shaan for being an absent parent, his pining for his Noor is heartbreaking(Badi sooni sooni hai). He made a mistake in not stopping his Noor and by also not leaving with her. Also by turning to alcohol and neglecting his child. He needs to own up to his mistakes and try to correct them. Wallowing does not help!

And Devi has taken full advantage of the situation. Blaming Aastha and Shagun for any hurt that Shaurya has experienced. Initially, I felt Shaurya’s eyes were so dead and void of emotions but in the scene with Devi, where he talks about failing in relationships, we get a sense of the depth of his despair. Also loved Devi’s comment “Tere liye jo likhi hai na woh bhagwan khud bana rahe hai apne haathon se”. The most Anokhi of pieces is awaiting him!

Patriarchy is toxic for males too. Ramesh Bhalla feels the weight of it. He has to work to keep a roof over his family’s head. He takes care of his mother. His eldest child is married off but he’s paying off the dowry still. His son’s engineering degree requires another loan. His youngest is sitting at home unmarried. He worries if something happens before retirement, his family will be affected. I’m not defending his toxicity or misogyny but trying to understand that in a rural Indian setting, in a middle class family, patriarchy hurts everyone.

“Zindagi ka doosra naam compromise hota hai”. How sad that many grow up thinking that and believing that and limiting themselves in life! Anokhi isn’t that person, as much as many would want her to that the middle safe path, that’s not her character. She seems to believe in Patrick Henry’s “Give me liberty or give me death!’

Precap: Gurdaspur is happening. “Rubbish” and hallway takkar is coming!!

Thoughts?

Yes I agree sometimes Patriarchy is toxic for males too. Through Ramesh Bhalla they have shown how it is when there is only one breadwinner in the family. He is still paying the loan taken for his elder daughter's marriage and is planning to take another loan for his younger daughter's marriage. And he wants to finish her marriage before his retirement .Typical situation in many rural families.

But was really disgusted with Mr Bhalla's behavior today. He knew that his daughter was beaten by her husband but still did not react. And not bothered to do any background check for Anokhi's alliance. Just wants to finish the marriage and send her dholi. I am appalled that how can a father be like this.

Being given he believes that the birth of his two daughters are the punishment for his previous crimes, It is obvious that nobody likes any form of punishment. The two girls are his burden and nothing else.

According to Shaurya, he has been betrayed and not the other way round. Shagun going behind his back, applying for the scholarship whilst knowing full well his expectation is enough for him to decide the person is not worth any cent. To him it is straigth forward, 'He' is not important for Shagun, so why should he attach himself to someone who does not really care for him.

One point I would like to make is if you are in love that itself means you are already attached. If you are attached you can’t let go of them easily. So it’s really confusing if he was really in love. Shagun I can say was in love as she was not ready to give up on him easily along with her dream to pursue phd. She tried to get in touch with him and talk to him many times inspite of his indifference and disregard. You can’t be so rigid and indifferent to a person you are in love with. Also he never said I love you in this process of breaking relationship with her( as per my knowledge, correct me if I am wrong). So I feel it’s more to do with absence of love in true sense that made him easily break up with her along with his abandonment issues and conditioning. It’s another thing that he thought he was in love with Shagun, as we see in future episodes with Anokhi.

EPISODE3:

Today's epidode depicts pain and punishments.

Shaurya.....the pained child

Shaan...the lonely husband ,guilty dad

Both bearing the punishments in their own way.

Ramaa ,Babli,Anokhi.....punished by pressure,by dominance.

Shagun's pain to persue her PHD and her punishment due to hiding this from Shaurya.

Mr.Bhalla...Insensitive father blind to the bruises on daughters face and still blaming her.

SHAURYA pained and poisoned since 25 years has set his priorities set based on his past experiences. He is terribly hurt and he is still that hurt 4 year old kid angry on his parents.Mother left him and Father was absentee.Devi cashed the situation to her favour and turned him into her pet.

Shaurya s throwing the ring...symbolizes he wants to move on in his life leaving the past and pain associated with it .He never loved Shagun. He just got impressed by her intelligence. He wants to marry because Shagun will do Ji Hazoori to him and his family. This might have given a sense of security and assurance which he missed in his life.

Siyah raaton mein Sukoon dhoond raha...Finding comfort in darkness. He is not ready to compromise his ideology for anyone.

Shaan.. Bearing the consequences of his insbility to support his wife or being there his son.The desperation to prove his wife's innocence and helplessness in guiding Shaurya in difficult times is evident. The song Badi suni suni hai.......fits aptly.

He is cherishing his past and forgetting the present.Pain of separation in love, pain of being lonely.

Ramaa ....Woman enduring pain with ease..wanting to fight for her children but frightened by dominance. The way she makes subtle trials to give some sense to insensitive husband is stan worthy. It is waste of time to talk a father who thinks daughters are burden and tries to get rid of them as soon as possible.

Babli....the bubbly girl trying to hide her sorrows with her parents and still ready to compromise for the sake others. She conveyed her sorrows through ger eyes to Ramaa and both women understood each other.Women in India after getting married....Whole world wants to know "when is the baby arriving".Having children specially a boy gives woman a respectable position in big families (Some families still believe in this non sense).

Shagun admires Shaurya and she tries to convince him.She as any other girl in love hopes to marry the love of her life .She is patient and persistent.

Anokhi s photo shoot ....oh god it was really funny. No smile at all.Irrirated and uncomfortable in all pics.(I so wished Shaurya had seen these pics in the show and made fun of her.)The fire to win the trophy, determination in her eyes, desperation to break free and fly are worth appreciation. She does not want what her mother and sister are going through and ready to revolt. She too is not ready to compromise her studies for anything and anyone.

Striking similarity between Shaurya and Anokhi.

Precap: Jugni with wings ready to fly.

This was such a sad scene. Imagine growing up with this being the norm….drunk father! And then Shaan thinks he can advise his son. With what haq?

And Babli today broke my heart. How many women in society today are like her. Thinking that this is the life they are destined to live. 😭

Precap for tmrw!
And with this I am off. Tag me in your reviews. Will reply when I am back.

The Babli part is so sad. The same reason Rama doesn’t leave is why Babli can’t leave. There’s no support from her own parents. And blaming your own child for her husband’s abusive behavior is disgusting. Especially because you chose him for her and is still paying dowry to keep her in that abusive jail.

In this rewatch I remember how much I hate this man!

Righttttt. His redemption is unforgivable now. If Anokhi had went with her father’s choice she would be in a living hell and Ramesh Bhalla wouldn’t care!
