Chapter 4
P – Don’t move Ved. A slight movement on either side and your head will be spilled all over the wall. Hand me over the codes. Now.
V – You seriously thought your husband won’t inform me about you coming here Agent Sana. Mandar got out of the ropes the very second you left the place and already told me to expect this visit. So drop your gun if you don’t want my men standing behind you to paint your head on the wall. Drop your weapon now.
Pallavi felt guns pointing at her and the only thing she can do was to accept the demands made. She dropped her weapon as Ved’s men collected the gun. She stood there, teething in anger as Ved laughed.
V – I was worried when I was informed that ISI has sent you to get the codes. Your reputation precedes you. You know this, right? The famed agent of ISI. It would be lie if I say I didn’t shivered for a bit. Mandar and I were planning day and night for ways to secure the codes. As we didn’t have any idea how the mighty agent will strike. But a fake identity? Really?
P – You knew from the start?
Pallavi’s eyes were burning with anger.
V – Out of the blue, a marriage offer of an orphan comes for my right hand man, I would do a background check for sure. Pallavi Sawant, brother Siddhesh Sawant, sister-in-law, dead parents… I mean you guys did the whole casting. It was difficult, I will give you that but seriously… a marriage proposal. Are you this desperate? Okey… you might have thought work and marriage both can be enjoyed in a single go.
Pallavi rushed forward in anger as she felt a cold barrel on her back and she stepped back.
V – Anger… now I see what Raghav likes in you. Did he know about your glorious past? That the Pallavi he keeps on chanting about does not exist and never existed. I am sure he will be heartbroken after knowing this. Let me help and call him. He is my best friend. He has every right to know about his lovely wife.
P – No. You can’t…
Pallavi shouted and kept looking in anger and worry as Ved dialed. A sudden sounds of gun shots filled the room and as the sound stopped, a pile of bodies graced the ground with only Pallavi and Ved left standing. The room went silent as the mobile ringtone broke the silence.
Raghav picked.
R – How are you my friend? I heard you wanted to talk to me. So I arranged this face to face meeting. Its better this way right?
Raghav entered the room as a shock emerges on the faces of two people left standing in the room. Raghav’s face looked stoic. The separation of any human emotion from his face was to the extent that he almost looked mechanical. His eyes kept fixed on Ved pointing his gun towards him and while walking slowly sideways to Pallavi without changing his focus. His Gun kept pointing at Ved as he stepped slowly to his side. Ved snapped his gun from the back and pointed back at Raghav.
V – You… you can’t beat me Raghav. You can never beat me. You ruined my plan. You ruined everything. You don’t even know what mess you are in. This is much bigger than you. It’s not your jewelry shop. It’s beyond want your tiny brain can even comprehend. And you came here for this girl. Girl who is not even your wife. She is not Pallavi. There was never any Pallavi. She is an ISI agent you pea brained kid. Her name is Sana and she is here just to get codes from me. There is no Pallavi. There was never a Pallavi. Are you listening?
Raghav maintained his silence as he kept creeping slowly to the side trying to narrow down distance between him and her. His movement was calculative as he never lost his focus from Ved.
V – So you don’t understand. You still think you need to save her. Don’t know what she has done to you my friend. You were smarter than this. No issues, for old time sake I will help you. I will end all your confusion. I will kill the so called ‘Pallavi’.
Ved moved his gun towards Pallavi as she kept standing therein shock. Her eyes were stagnant on Raghav unaware of anything happening in her vicinity. Raghav’s steps halted as he spoke in dangerously calm and eerie voice.
R – I know everything old friend. Don’t worry about it. I knew everything from day one. The day you got those codes. The day you planned to catch her and the day you sent your stooge back to our house. I knew you wanted to tie up the loose end. You want to get rid of her. I know Sana is the biggest road block for you to move those codes. And that is why as soon as you guys knew she is within your control you made the mistake. You made the mistake for which I was waiting for past two years. And for your information, your men don’t have codes. It was taken away from them to a safe place. So you don’t need to worry about them getting into wrong hands. And about your men guarding your precious sale. Their bodies will be moved to mortuary along with yours. What you dared to say, you will kill Pallavi. You think that you can kill Pallavi, when Raghav is breathing. And you say I am unaware of things. Listen and listen carefully. The day on which Raghav Rao can’t protect his Pallavi won’t ever see the sun. My existence is because she breathes. I live because her heart pumps. And you are saying Pallavi never existed. She might be Sana for the whole world but she is my Pallavi. She is my wife, my life Mrs. Pallavi Raghav Rao. Ardhamainda.
His face never showed any emotion as his eyes were focused on task but his voice buzzed the threat siren for the whole world. His eyes never shifted but his aura felt her light. She kept looking at him in shock as tears kept rolling down her cheeks. Her heart felt light as a smile graced her face.
He knew. He knew it for all this time. And still he believes in Pallavi. He believes in me.
V – No this can’t be happening. You can’t do that. I can’t fail. I cannot fail. I will kill her. I will kill you. I will kill you both. I will kill you both.
Two gun shots were heard. Two bodies dropped.
Epilogue
A bullet went through Ved’s skull as his body fell on the ground. Pallavi’s eyes closed on gun shots and as they open, she saw Raghav’s back in front of her. His knees caved and he fell on the ground. Pallavi kept standing there in shock unable to comprehend. She dropped to her knees still in shock beside Raghav’s fallen body with his eyes looking at the roof and a bullet hole in his chest. His eyes slowly turned to her. She kept looking at him still in shock. He extends his blood covered hand towards her with his chest rising and falling rapidly. She still looking at him and his eyes looking at her. And with his falling breath, his lips parted for the last sound…Pallavi… His hand dropped as his eyes lost the life. His body lying there with his eyes still pointed in the direction of his life. A soul departs for a soul to stay.
She kept sitting there with nothing in her eyes as she kept staring at him. The time was passing but the scene was stagnant in the timeframe. No movement, no voice, no life. The room seemed barren much like the bodies in the room. He died for her but she died with him. She kept her stare lost in time as her phone rang to bring her out of the moment. She looked at the phone and her face became stoic and her eyes lost the nothingness to a duty bound focus.
P – No. We didn’t get the codes. No, there are no more leads. I will be… What??? Are you sure?
The phone dropped from her grip as she start running her hands over his clothes as a possessed soul. She kept checking all his pockets and stopped as she found a secret pocket on the inside. She slipped her hands inside it and took out a card. The room was in silence and the noise of gush of wind gave room some acoustic. Her lips read in trembling voice.
P – Ra… Raghav Rao. Clear… clearance level seven.
Her hands lost the strength to keep hold on the card as her eyes looked at his open eyes. Her face seemed lost to any thoughts as her voice trembled for herself.
You… you worked for R&AW.

Was that rushed or predetermined?
I liked how you wrapped it, no stretching, just bussinss. That was a nice story but I'm so unsatisfied here.
I think you know what I feel about that epilogue.
