Has anyone watched Daayraa (1996)?

One of its songs was playing on the radio so I looked up the movie.

Turns out it never had a theatrical release in India, given its storyline. But it premiered in various film festivals.

Its about a young girl who, after facing multiple atrocities, forms an unlikely bond with a transgender.

I remember watching a video on Nirmal Pandey's life and this film was mentioned in it (that it was very well received by critics).

Have never had the opportunity to watch the film but did watch a few clips from it in the same video.

Oh that's interesting.

I was just relaxing yesterday and this song played on Vividh Bharti (I still listen to that station 😆).

I had no idea what film it belonged to, but it made me cry. There is something very pure about the song and I got really emotional. Luckily I managed to Shazam it.

Was skimming through Nirmal Pandey's profile when noticed this very obscure movie for the first time in 25 yrs (thereby adding to my watch list & possibly posting later) , all this just a day or two before this topic !
