Chapter 3
No... No no. This can’t be happening. This can’t be true. I am his wife. I am Pallavi Raghav Rao. They can’t take me. He won’t allow them to take me. Yes… yes he won’t let them take me. I won’t go. I won’t leave. I can’t leave from here. I can’t leave him. How can I leave him after all that I fel…
Pallavi was in deep thoughts as the figure entered the hall in response to the call by Vijay Deshmukh. A face too familiar to both Pallavi and Raghav as it was the reason for turmoil in their lives for past few days. The events seemed unreal as Mandar entered the hall and went on to stand by his father. He had a smile on his composed face and a constant stare on the two statues standing there. Raghav and Pallavi exchanged a look and the expression on their face told entirely different story. He had the smile and she had the anger. Their expression confused both Vijay Deshmukh and Mandar as Vijay spoke.
VD – So Raghav Rao, now you get it or not. She is not your wife but my daughter in law. And now she will go with me from this jail of yours. My son is alive by Bappa’s grace and he has come with me to free his wife from this captivity of yours. So move out of our way or do we need to call the Police.
Raghav gave a smirk to Pallavi and turned to Vijay Deshmukh as he looked at him with a big smile and excitement in his eyes.
R – No need. Pallavi is a free and independent woman. She doesn’t need any Rao or Deshmukh to make her decision. It’s her decision and she don’t need anybody’s permission for it. Whatever she feels is right, she can take that decision. I won’t raise any objection to it. So Pallavi… tell your baba what’s your decision? You want to stay here or go back to your ex-husband’s home. You have my support in either case. Choose between your heart and duty Mrs. Pallavi Raghav Rao.
Raghav turned to look at Pallavi who was already looking at him with fire in her eyes. Her decision was awaited but her eyes were saying much more than what mere words could have said. She was breathing fire as Raghav looked at her with a smirk and her expression pushed a genuine smile on his face to replace his smirk.
Why are you smiling? And why aren’t you stopping me. You didn’t told me not to leave. You didn’t execute your right on me. You are asking me what I want. Really??? Don’t you know? Don’t you know what I want? After all this time, all that we said and all that we didn’t say, after all that you want to ask if I want to go. How dare you? How dare you Raghav Rao to even ask me that question? I know I was leaving anyhow but you… I… I was leaving. I had to leave. Yes… yes I had to leave.
A glint of sparkle danced in her eyes.
P – I will go with baba.
She declared her decision. The room went silent. Raghav’s eyes widened and the smile retreated and replaced by shock on his face. He looked at Pallavi whose cheeks still felt shedding tears but her eyes had a glint of smile. A satisfaction had replaced the anger and her face beamed with hope. She seemed content. She seemed happy even. After long time her face was reflecting what her eyes were saying and he kept looking at her. She gazed into Raghav’s eyes which had the fury of the third eye and she knew the reason but she smiled back to him with her eyes trying to give him belief. His pain asked. Her hope answered.
She turned to Vijay Deshmukh and her features became stoic. She wiped her tears and voiced in mechanical tone.
P – Baba. Let’s go. I am coming with you. There is nothing left here to talk.
Raghav stood there and his persona was screaming out but her lips remained shut. Pallavi started to walk towards the door and just before moving out she turned to have the last look. You can spend a lot of time, make lots of memories and even spend entirety of lifetime with that person but at the end it always comes to that last look. The last look, nobody knows why. Her eyes for his. It was necessary for her to live. It was important for him to see. And he saw. He saw that last tear left in her dried eyes and the broken heart had something to keep beating because he knew. He knew she has to go. She had to do it. She can’t, no matter how much she wanted and he knew. His anger drowned and his eyes looked at hers for an ask. And her eyes replied. She turned back and moved out of the door as he kept looking at her disappearing feature and with the last point of her existence disappearing, he dropped to his knees. His eyes let out all the pain he kept held in as he thundered her name… Pallaviiiiiiiii…Her footsteps froze on the spot. Her eyes closed shedding that last tear as she uttered… I promise.
A ruin had crashed to the ground. Two eyes kept looking at the door. The anger was visible in his eyes but two words stopped him from burning himself with the world around him. You promised…. He uttered.
You promised and I will make you keep it. I know you have to go. You won’t tell. You can never tell. Even though I tried but you never said and I understand. I understand but you have to comeback. You have to keep your promise. Even though it won’t be completed. I can’t let it to be completed. I am sorry. I know you don’t have choice but so do I. So I have to stop you. I have to stop you but I won’t allow you to leave me either. You won’t leave me. You can’t leave me. Because… because once all said and done, it is meant to be Raghav and Pallavi. It’s always Raghav and Pallavi. And no matter how much they all try, heck… no matter how much whole world tries to oppose this, you are meant to be in my arms. We are meant to be. And no one can stop it. No one. Today she won but you promised me. And I know you will keep your promise. Pallavi will be back with Raghav. Pallavi will be with Raghav and you will lose Sana. You will lose.
