I appreciated Khaani so much for that very reason; the fact that Khaani never felt anything for Hadi at any point because his crime was so big. This was no mistake or accident, it was cold blooded murder. Then there's the fact that Hadi harassed and humiliated the entire family and stalked Khaani. Khaani started out as a weak FL and you wouldn't expect her to become a courageous woman willing to face powerful people. Some people would lose all their strength after a death of a loved one and this was Khaani's twin brother! Instead Khaani becomes stronger! Even when she starts loving her secret admirer she is able to get over it upon finding out his identity. Hadi got his redemption once he let go of Khaani, admitted to his crimes, and accepted his fate. Once he stopped directing his energy towards his love for Khaani and instead directed it towards loving God he found his peace. It wouldn't have had the same impact if Khaani had fallen in love and accepted him. Feroze and Sana did a romcom together after Khaani but it did not get that kind of fame so we can't say for sure if their new show will be worth it.
Woh Aik Pal was reuploaded by Hum but muted in places so it's hard to watch due to that. Apparently it's on MX Player so if you have access to that you can watch it there. Gul e Rana was super toxic so I could never like it. I hate shows with toxic men (or women) who don't get their comeuppance. Imran Ashraf (REB) was also in that show. So many people did not like Imran before for that same reason, that he did not look like hero material and I am like you gotta give him a chance. Anyways, he was in some shows that gained popularity and people ended up loving him. My favourite show of Danish is Ab Dekh Khuda Kya Karta Hai (it was popular too) where he was the ML but not the hero and it was after this show that he played a similar role in Deewangi. Oh if you like male centric shows especially involving a flawed, arrogant ML with a redemption arc then try Dushman e Jaan.
Yes to Durga of EHT! I did not watch JNDSD so can't say but there have been some strong FLs. Too bad it's always on shows that don't get ratings. Pakistani shows have a lot of great FLs so I wouldn't be able to name any. Although an amazing show, I am not a big fan of ZGH because I found it problematic, both ML and FL. I loved Bano and Khaani though. Do tell me if you try Meer Abru.
I just don't understand why we need remakes of shows that were complete? These shows ran for years, were stretched like no tomorrow and then completed. Why do we need more of them? Why do we need sequels or reboots? Why ruin their legacy? I adore Rajeev so having someone like Kushal playing that role is shocking and a complete downgrade.
I completely agree with you about Khaani, she grew stronger and just did not let herself weaken in front of the tragedy that Mir Hadi was in her life, he was deranged and ohh boy who would know that a simple and coy girl would break the might Mir Hadi in such a chaotic way? It was more like poetic justice, the day he kidnaps her to marry her the very same day she crushes all his courage down and burns his ego too. What I loved in that scenario was how cold she was, and how unstable he becomes to see her not reciprocating at his provocations. And what follows is a journey of self discovery and victory of the truth, who would know that even Mir Hadi had hidden goodness, unless he allowed himself to let go of her. I love Khaani for so many reasons, not because that this is one of those shows where the ML lead has a redemption arc (usually most desi shows do not have one, or even if they have one it is too fake and shabby), where the ML despite being problematic carries the show's narrative and where there is a tragic love story but the love story is still not two sided, and it should have been that way. Khaani also signifies how parents play a huge role in a child's life, the way Hadi questions his parents moral ground every second during his repentance, the way he questions his own upbringing, every freaking thing was so good. Also the fact that the message was more like the Almighty forgives even such big crimes like murder, only if you truly repent. The last episode was ice-cold for me, as much as I loved how Mir Hadi got a chance to live instead of dying, the moment he begs Khaani for his execution to take place was all goosebumps, I love this show so much. The only thing which I did not like was Khaani getting married, I mean Mir Hadi's redemption arc and Khaani trying to get justice for Sarim could be done even without the inclusion of any side kick husband, at some point her husband was so annoying, he served no purpose but a overtly sugar coated character trying to look good, WTH was that?
The rom-com which Feroze-Sana did is not as iconic as Khaani but I heard it was a super hit though, but yeah, I think their upcoming show is not a comedy but an intense one, and when it comes to that genre I think Feroze excels, and surprisingly he has really good chemistry with most of his costars. Also, since KAM3 is having a blockbuster run, I believe the upcoming show will only have more hype as it will be expected to live upto the hype of both Khaani and KAM3 combined. it is a lot of pressure on the team though.
I will watch WAP in YT, and I just watched the OST, seems like Feroze's ishqiya costar Ramsha is here too, it looks like the FL is older to him and it is a different kind of show then. I did not watch GER yet because as you have said, I myself cannot take much toxicity when the character shave no comebacks, and I know that Feroze's character in GER was probably one of that kind, but maybe I will just watch it for his performance. I will definitely watch Meer Abru since it is remake of my all time favorite KTH, I hope YT has it. Danish is good, but again with Deewangi both Sultan and Nageen are such unlikable characters, unlike Khaani where both Hadi and Khaani had things I could like, but Sultan is just brain dead, he fell in love without any reason, and Nageen behaves like old Ekta heroines most of the times, and also the leads lack chemistry, I do not know whether I will be able to finish it but I will try. Apparently Danish's current show Ish hai also have him being toxic at his best..😆
I agree with you ZGH was definitely problematic, but I liked how the characters were relatable, Kashaf was more problematic than Zaroon but at least we know why she was like that, I mean I can like very flawed characters if given a good enough foundation, like in Humsafar I felt very bad for Sara even though she was psychotic and she ruined both her own life and Asher's life too, but her misery had me in tears too, so shows where we have problematic characters but they still win your sympathy are something I will always sit and watch.
If you have not watched JNDSD then you can give it a try, both the ML and FL are so likable, one of the underrated shows, the show is heavily inspired with concepts of honor killing and Hum dil de chuke sanam, but the best thing is that the characters of FL and ML are always true to the writing at least till the first one year. It is not a toxic or arrogant male lead show though, after a certain time they tried to shove down the FL's unwanted Husband down our throats, but well, the love story was too good between the main leads.
Rebooting old classics is only to massage her own ego, Ekta is one woman who can do anything for her ego, coincidentally, both Rajeev and Iqbal refused to massage her ego and they had to quit their shows, KTH went to dogs after Rajeev's exit, I do not think anyone cared to watch post that comical plastic surgery of Sujal.
