Exactly. Malini wanted a mirror who just shows what she is thinking, so that everything ill always be hunky dory.
Adi was like that initially as he did not care enough to put his views or contradict her.
But after marriage he could not just follow what she says, he is not built like that.
With Imlie even if he does not agree, she convinces him with logical points, which makes him relent, else he also holds on to his decisions and she follows through.
That is true partneship. Not expecting the other to always echo your thoughts just because you cannot tolerate being opposed in anyway.
A healthy marriage is one where the two complement each other. Malini is a pampered princess who has had what she wanted handed to her. Her parents gave her plenty materially but starved her emotionally in understanding that life is a changing course and you learn to journey together with your spouse. There will be bumps along the way. To her Adi and she selecting the same pair of shoes puts them on the same mental wavelength.
Most men like women who challenge them to grow. Even a Deadbeat Dad like DC stuck it with AC all these years after cheating on her and Meethi. Malini has poor role models for healthy relationships. DC has skeletons in his closet, AC is resentful of DC’s cheating and has not forgiven him after two decades. Instead she lashes out on those who remind her of her hurt and pain.
Meltdown Malini’s reaction to a lack of phone calls from Adi seemed a bit over the top. She dragged the T family into her insecure world and made life right after the wedding all lack of attention and phone calls from Adi. When Adi left town she starved herself and cried a river ever so often, packed her bags and rushed off to her unhealthy environment at Cs house to feed her insecurity and have a nervous breakdown. She behaved like a spoiled brat and complained to her in-laws about Adi ignoring her. They played along as enablers and censured Adi for it.
Wonder if she has ever been told NO to about something significant in life. Easy going life with everything handed to her has make her weak that she can’t cope with the hard knocks of reality.
Malini’s character comes across as a shallow person without the depth of life’s experiences. Adi on the other hand chose to shed light on things that matter in society.
Imli has had nothing but hard knocks but she visualized a better future for herself even as she dealt with the punches life dealt her.
Imli is a far better match for Adi as they both challenge each other to grow. Adi realized as he guarded the lamp in PD that Imli challenged his thinking and logic like never before.
KC is a better guy for Malini because he challenges to snap out of her delusions around Adi. He calls a spade a spade and doesn’t let Malini off the hook with her excuses and half truths.
