Its possible for leads when both shows are from same PH. Why this single show rule only for leads when other supporting or main villain characters do multiple shows? Till some 10-12 years back, even leads would do multiple shows. But those times shows would air 1-4 days a week. Still how come other important characters do multiple shows now too? Sudesh Berry would do 4 shows at a time in 2017. Smita Bansal did Aladdin and Jaadu both at a time. And in both shows her character was very important.
