Even if they all didn’t get a pass, but they are not being asked to change. But Shiva is being asked to change by everybody be it in the show or here.
IMO, other than Shiva, one more person needs to change and see a character growth, is Rishita. She has a long way to go. Two times she saved the Pandya parivar members and now she is out taking her anger on them. If she stood up against her family and questioned them about their plan to implicate Shiva and today when Moti Ben insulted Pandya parivar, then would agree she is indeed great. Instead she was happily taking their money.
In the OG, there was no kidnapping, instead it was an accident. Apart from the brothers threatening Janardhan, you know who questioned and warned him, it was Meena (Rishita here) She went against her family for injuring Kathir-Mullai. Here Rishita is not confronting, but brushing everything aside.
Sorry for bringing this discussion back out now. I fell asleep last night and then had to run some errands today.
The change part, I completely agree. I can't speak for others, but I feel like and want to see character growth/change for all characters.
@Rishita's behavior, yes, I think for me, when I was watching the episode and the way she was taking the gifts and especially took the debit card, it didn't sit well. I thought about how I'd handled the situation. If my parents gave me such things without malice, I would have taken gifts, but not the card. Or had I taken it for their respect, I would have never used it. And then would later tell my family that I am happy with what we're making and we'd manage it ourselves. But then again, I'd also put my education to use and provide my share of the contribution to the family financially if I wasn't helping out in taking care of the household. However, given there was malice pretty evident in their voice, I'd respectfully reject the gifts. And I wanted Rishita to do that. And I want her to get to that level of having self respect asap. She's self righteous, but doesn't really have self respect. And she needs to learn to read the room. But I think the way her family treated her afterwards, my heart went out to her and I forgot to mention about her behavior initially.
-Dev needs to grow a spine before he has any other growth
- Dhara needs to be little more selfish and less mahanta ki murat. She also needs to learn the importance of open communication. In fact both GauRa needs that growth. Everything can't be swept under the rug
- Krish needs to mature (but That will come with age. I truly enjoy his character the way it is)
- Suman. Her situation is tricky. Ideally, she needs to grow and change with times. She's the old school types who believes in women doing housework while men are the bread winners. If she comes around, I'd be fine. But as someone who has grown up around grandparents, it's really hard to expect elderly to change their mindset. They have different experience and grew up in very regressive era. My grand parents, especially dadaji was very forward thinking, and always supported me with whatever I pleased. But I can't say the same about everyone his age. So when it comes to people with that age, I just tread cautiously, keep my opinions to myself, do as I please when they're not around, and live conservatively when I am around them.
And after writing this, I think I have lost the plot. Lol I don't remember what the original post was that started this debate.
