I mean honestly, the deal with WME itself would have come through her backing. These things don't just come out of the blue.

But I meant more in the sense that her schedules and timings would be easy to manage in India because everyone would go out of their way to accommodate her in a way that they wouldn't for most other actors. So even if she wastes time in LA, it probably won't hurt her BW career that much.

It takes a lot to break into Hollywood. Some of our finest (I would say world finest) have struggled pretty hard. Priyanka is a rare exception, plus she is a Jonas now. But she is supremely talented. Alia has had tailored stardom, where films were made to showcase her strengths. Then Kalank happened, when she tried to be too Deepika. She's got everything because of her name and background, not because she is an exceptional performer, whether it comes to acting, singing or dancing. India has much better to offer.

The Bollywood fad is very much over, everyone sees that. Everyone's career is at the same level of uncertainty now. And if nothing works out, she still gets the Kapoor surname, doesn't she.

PS: Surprising this transition gets announced a year after the public called out nepotism and groupism and boycotted her film.

You guys revere HW way too much. There are loads of mediocre to bad actors there too so all this "finest" stuff makes me laugh really hard. And talent is in the eye of the beholder anyway. Alia annoys me as a personality but I think she's more talented than the ones who have tried for HW so far.

And not many people from BW have tried to go HW with any seriousness - only Ash, Priyanka and Deepika. That number is too small to make any real pattern out of it. I think Alia is very different from all 3 of them in terms of looks and acting style and personality. I don't think her agent would be targeting hot girl roles or doing PR about her being the world's most beautiful or trying the relatable 'I grew up in the US" bullied brown girl thing either.

Kalank doesn't matter. I agree she was terrible in it but it doesn't matter for HW. Her singing, dancing and gracefulness or lack of it is immaterial there. There are no Bhansali type roles in HW.

BW is over? Nah. Only SSR weirdos think like that. As soon as theaters open, everything will be back to normal.

I don't revere Hollywood. I merely feel it gives a wider audience to an artiste. But someone like Alia would not aim for small/subpar stuff, given the kind of career she has had so far. When she does a project which is not specifically made for her, that day we'll see her actual potential.

Hollywood obviously doesn't have Bhansali like roles, but when they do a musical, the leads at least are graceful dancers and can sing well/had some training in singing. One exception would be Emma Watson as Belle...but Disney's too woke now anyways and ruining its own classics.

Bollywood's hypocrisy is as exposed as Hollywood's. Films have lost their shine, the kind of aura stars used to have, even till the time DP and Katrina were working round the clock is gone. And I don't mean looks. SSR weirdo? You do realise there are people who can think something negative about the industry without bringing SSR into the picture.
