Well, in your question's point, if we have to justify this as well, she is more into targeting Sai now I feel. As I said, 1.securing her position as the wisest bahu. Cuz she craves this support, attention which is necessary when Samrat returns, she is not ready to publically decay her worth as the well mannered bahu by accepting anything with Virat.

2.Cuz, recently Sai is no less than threat as she is putting direct allegations, in this case I guess she is just securing her basement, to make sure the question that Sai put about her relation with Virat should not arise in anyone else's brain. As doubts are sometimes pretty injurious. And the recent shift in kaku might have somewhere threatened her of her worth losing in that house, even if for a few minutes or hours in ghum timeline.

So, it might be a defensive game. But, we might know what exactly is this in the function, cuz the bg and her face when she sees sairat will reveal her to us more.

Every matter of a married couple is like public hearing where everyone can give their inputs then someone will back that input. Sabko panchayat karni hai, its like "Chai pe charcha - couple's edition"

Pakhi has an image to protect, I don't think this is the reason for this behavior with Mansi, if she really was concerning about her image, it would have been in front of Virat

I sense a change in character as under normal circumstances she would have insulted Mansi like she insults Ashwini and then gone to function with police, that's her basic character trait

That’s relationship in general.. in India, we are still evolving.. that too in a conventional joint family, your every action is under microscope. One’s life is always other’s cup of tea. Family etiquettes are more important in some families than love and emotions.
