Karishma Tanna Television actor on playing the adarsh bharatiya nari in serials and doing item numbers for television shows.
After playing comic roles like Indu in Kyunki... what made you take up a character like Palak in Palki?
This was something that I always dreamt of. I wanted to break away from my image of a comedian. In fact, I enjoy doing both roles because I'm bubbly like Indu and matured like Palak. So I relate to both characters. Moreover, there's nothing like playing an adarsh bharatiya nari on Indian television.
But a so-called bharatiya nari doesn't dress in skimpy outfits like the way you did at a recent Diwali programme aired on a channel...
This was not the first time I danced on stage. I am an actor and have no inhibitions about wearing such clothes and performing. The clothes were done by Vikram Phadnis and I knew that I could carry it off without me looking cheap in them.
I can dance well and have my own style. I cannot be compared to other actors.
Does that mean you are geared up Bollywood?
I have been getting a lot of offers, but then nothing so far seems to be interesting. I'm not aiming for Bollywood. If a good role comes my way, I will definitely take it up. But that does not mean that once I do films, I'll be saying bye-bye to television. I would be doing films and television simultaneously.
Are you open to playing any character?
Exactly. I have done comic roles, negative roles and the good girl ones too. I got an offer to play a CID kind of a character. But I could not take it up due to date problems. I'm eager to play a psycho. By doing different roles, I want to prove my versatility as an actor.

Ms. Tanna seems confident about her dancing and fashion style. I like that!
Do you think she has any chances of success in film industry? I think not! But you never know!
