GrihaPravesh scene spoilt my excitement of seeing RR mansion.

A few days some one created a post about how Vat Savitri Vrat was incorrectly shown in the promo.

I totally agree on that and a similar thing happened again today with the griha pravesh as well.

Why not show telugu style.

When aarti is done, or even when applying kumkum, the tradition is to fold your hands like Namsakaram

Then the tilak in telugu style is applying kumkum below the bindi for a girl and at a similar place for a boy. No chawal on the tilak or no putting hand behind ur head like amma asked Raghav to do.

And the Kalash with rice, pushing it with ur right foot is not at all telugu tradition.

When the makers decided to show different cultures, they should take care of these aspects and show the different cultures to the people. Every Indian is proud that we have such rich and diverse cultures, then why not show it to the whole world.

I wish the makers show the Marathi and Telugu traditions properly going forward. And I am sure once Raghvi realize they love each other, there would be a second wedding and then I would like to see them getting married in both Marathi and Telugu style.

Ha... You said it... Even i felt it as a piece of stone in the eye while seeing it... But I gave it a free pass as there are n number of things that are shown wrong which neither comes under telugu customs nor marathi customs.. be it during marriage or even the mangala sutra... Both Telugu and Marathi people wear the two round gold plates to the mangala sutra where Telugu people wear it with gold chain and Marathi people have it with black beads as far as I saw.. I even have complaints with Raghav never wearing the dhoti for traditional occasions but rather wearing it as lungi..we wear it as dhoti style. As this show is to cater whole nation so they are trying to show the rituals with mix and match that other region people can relate to... May be this is good idea for them but it will give wrong idea about the rituals followed.. they will setup a pre imaged notion that all southees follows same style of traditions and all the rest follows other traditions.. when they can show proper Bengali marriage in a show then why not they show a proper Telugu or Marathi marriage..

But then bade bade shows mein aise galtiyaan hote hain...

Also I think they started rectifying few things... The way RR called appa for naanna in initial episodes and later changed it and now with changing mangalsutra pattern...

I too didn't like that scene. South Indians never touch rice or container of rice with their feet. Annam is parabrahmam for us.

Hi I am new to this forum. I have the same complaint, I wish MR team has done enough research especially this is based on telugu tv serial which Mr sickander himself produced.

Sai and Sneha are two Telugu people in team, wish they had corrected few things or gave some input.

after Arati they should have asked to tell the names of each other and could have made it more fun.

manglasutra in the promo had two round circles with black beeds, the actual one is terribly bad.

Rao's are not Maharashtrain so it look odd.... Telugu tradition should have shown.....

Plus Vat Savitri never nirjala vrat... Marathi women had fruits or food used for only fast....

Poor Sai is unmarried ya..

He wouldn't have any idea about any marriage related customs. Boys hardly pay attention to such things. He doesn't even know how to apply sindhoor 😆 Didn't you see in Raghvi marriage? He was so out of his element there😆

I guess both snehals are Marathi right? I guess bada bindi is married to a telugu guy in real life but she herself might not be telugu... As jia said that only Ketan is telugu and boys hardly knows the rituals so just going them pass...

Here the Rao’s were shown as a mix of Tamil - Telugu . RR mentioned his native is 300km from Hybd ,so there’s a chance they belong nearby Tamil Nadu (may be Tirupati ) .

Amma’s Venkateshwara prayers , her Bharatnatyam ,

Appa’s Nadaswaram , their costume ( white veshti) . Btw Lungi and Veshti ( white/cream silk/cotton) are different .

Raghav sometimes calling his dad Appa .

Regarding Rice in Kalash - Tamil’s do have a ritual like this

I don’t agree to all ur views

Only agree tilak is below the bindi in South Indian grahapravesh ..

Kalash is a must in south India more than kalash its a big tumbler type not totally a kalash

Seems makers mixed both the traditions

Give them some consideration here COVID and they had to do many things from shifting to what not

Let’s appreciate what we got

Trust me Karnataka and tamil border andraits follow different customs

Maharashtra tradition is totally different

Different groups follow different customs

We can’t go on seeing with magnifying lense

Wedding was done long back at least we got gruhapravesh now we are ok with it

I am mix of karnataka and married to andrait so we had to mix both and we had different approach It was cocktail of rituals

It’s ok ya raghvi is there in one frame that’s enough enjoy what we get we can’t expect more budget is not high like ekta

Ekta would have done with detailing but ruin the show but here beautiful show

Respect ur views ppl expect much but we get what cvs plan

Reading through the comments and honestly, had no idea about the different traditions. I have no idea about all the wedding rituals other than the actual wedding but what ensues later - pura bumper jaata hai. The pandit ji just instructs and people follow. Ask the elders why we do it and they say "It's a tradition, just do it" I think even most of them don't know the real reasons. haha!

I've been raised in a mixed culture where over time, all different communities integrate and take home a few customs. So much so, some of our dressing is also inspired from how Muslims would dress in their weddings. Then we have things that are specific to western culture, but now integrated in our weddings. It's a blend. We also have South Indians but they're quite strict about their traditions and don't appreciate mixing any traditions. Each to their own. Coming to the show, I think they need to balance it by inclusivity in these little aspects because the show is primarily a Hindi TV show so naturally, North Indians are more inclined to watch it and they also need a sort of representation. There is an international audience too, who understands that each culture has different customs but most of us are not very specific about it considering how we've been raised in a mixed culture. I believe that's what they're trying to achieve - a rounded representation. Or they've just overlooked it 😆

I remember SLB's Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam. They were gujjus and gujjus don't celebrate karwa chauth at all but it was shown (SLB himself is a gujju and I'm sure he will agree). Similarly, all movies talk of Saat pheras but Gujjus only take four, which by the way, very few people know of. So there are these little aspects that are changed in all shows/movies to get a higher reach, rather, something that has over time become universally accepted such as saat phera and the griha pravesh system. It's famous worldwide.

Overall, I'd overlook it because it's never that serious for me, but I guess it may be a sensitive topic for some. In the end it's just a TV show trying to entertain us.

Interesting topic, I'll google more about customs.
