As promised... part 2 of 'Pyaar ka mauka'.
She held his hand with both of her own as she spoke and her eyes bore deep into his. 'Nahi mila tha Raghav, par ab jo zindagi ne mauka diya hai, usko mein apne done haatho se, kasske pakarna chahti hoon. Mein tumse pyar karna chahti hoon.'
Part 2
Pallavi had spoken her heart out without any inhibitions. She wasn’t planning to confess her feelings to him. This was probably not even the most appropriate time. His trust in her had given her the confidence to express her new-found feelings. She had always felt confident around Raghav, but lately some of his direct questions had left her speechless. She remembered the morning after he had his drunk incident. When he asked her if she would stay forever if he promised to change. She had immediately turned away. Similarly, when he caught her as Mr Raghav Rao, she found herself unable to face him.
But today, she had acted on impulse. Her bruised heart which had forgotten how to beat for itself, which was constantly seeking acceptance from others, had found a home with Raghav. She no longer had to prove anything to him. She did not have to sacrifice her little wants for the sake of others. She could be herself with Raghav, he had given her more than she had ever asked for. She was certain about her feelings for him. She had admitted that to herself the night he came home drunk. When she saw his vulnerability, his loneliness, his pure heart, she had accepted that she wanted to love this man and be loved by him.
She looked directly into his eyes as she gently squeezed his large palm between her two small ones. Her heart was expectant, although she had no idea if he felt the same way about her. His care, concern, and appreciation for her was obvious. But love? What did she know about his love life anyway? What kind of ladies was he attracted to? She realised she was unaware about this side of his life. He had never expressed any attraction to her directly, but she had caught his gaze from time to time. Since their marriage, he had been extremely gentle, caring and soft but there was nothing to reassure her that he definitely loved her.
He was silent for a few painful moments. Pallavi saw his expression shift from cheeky to surprise to something she could no longer read. Her eyes searched his and eventually she loosened the grip on his hand. As she drew her hands to herself, Raghav grabbed both of her wrists with his hands and pulled them to his chest. They were sitting inches away from each other.
‘Pallavi… tum mereko pyar karta hai? Sahi suna maine?’ He asked earnestly in a low voice.
Her fingers played with his shirt buttons, careful not to touch the exposed chest beneath, despite her desire to do so. She took a moment, suddenly conscious that she did not want to be rejected by him.
‘Ek baar kehdiya Ghamandi Rao, wapas nahi kahungi.’ She felt herself blushing and looked down, unable to meet his gaze.
‘Pallavi, mein...tum… Pallavi…’ He sighed and ruffled a hand through his hair. She saw him close his eyes tight and concentrate. Pallavi was dreading the worst, her eyes opened wide, she realised she had stopped breathing.
When Raghav opened his eyes and saw Pallavi’s expression, he cupped her face in both his hands and made him look at her. ‘Pallavi… tum mereko kaise pyar kar sakta hai? Maine tumko kitna torture kiya? Tum to mere baare mein, mere zindagi ke bare mein sab jaanta hai na? Main kaisa bura aadmi hai… aur tum. Tum to pyaari, sweet, sabo ka acha karne wali, perfect larki… tum kaisa mujse pyar kar sakta hai?’
Pallavi stared at him, wide eyed, and she gripped his collar the way she did the day before. A tear escaped her eye and made its way down her cheek as she confirmed, ‘Mein Pallavi Raghav Rao hoon. Mein apne pati ke khilaaf kuch nahi sunoongi. Meri marzi hai, mera dil hai aur mera pyaar. Mein ye sab tumhare naam karna chahti hoon Raghav.’ She looked at him lovingly and leaned in and kissed him on his cheek. ‘Ardham ayinda?’
