Okay, this wasn't as great, but I feel like I got some good substance out. I'm going to ignore Ahaan the Mahaan getting drunk off his ass and his scene with Rhea and go with what I wanted the night to be. Highly recommend reading Introspection first, but this can be a stand-alone. This one is slightly longer because Ahaan has a lot more thinking to do and a lot more turmoil in his life due to his questionable choices. So without further ado, I present- Questions.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

He was a collection of questions. Questions that he wanted answers to. He needed answers to.

Why hadn’t she reacted?

Why hadn’t she spoken up?

Why hadn’t she answered him?

He’d been walking by the window when he spotted her by the pool. Ahaan’s earlier thought echoed once again, Where’s your fire Ishqi?

It wasn’t natural seeing the girl she had once been become so melancholy. So reminiscent of Kartik and chaachi’s words. 6 months ago, he had chosen not to listen to her after she missed the chance he gave her.

So why was his mind so conflicted?

Why was he bothered by his actions? Why did it bother him when her mausaji outed the truth about what he had done 6 months ago?

Why did he feel the pain, when she was the one who was bleeding?

She had sacrificed everything for her family, even her self-respect. All because of her mausaji. All to protect her family. And she was still protecting them. Holding them together.

'Tick. Tick. And Tick,' Kartik had said on the day of the Mehendi.

Why was he unable to tear himself from her? The further he ran, the closer she drew to his heart. He kept building thicker walls, but she crashed through every single one of them. He was getting married to Rhea. Today had been his engagement. And yet, he had rushed to her aid.

How had his heart known that she was in trouble? How did it know every single time?

Here he was, engaged to the ideal girl. But why was it that Ishqi could read him better 6 months ago than Rhea ever could? She saw his pain without him ever saying anything.

What was this bond that had formed between them that he couldn’t break no matter how much he tried?

He was frozen at that window, watching her. Trying to catch a glimpse of the girl she had once been. He didn’t know how long he stood there, motionless as she was.

He allowed himself to just exist with her, here, in the dark of the night, where he didn’t have to pretend that his heart didn’t feel anything. That he wasn’t a collection of aches. That he wasn’t as tormented as her.

For a second, he thought she might see him as her head turned up to the sky, but he couldn’t bring himself to move.

She was crying

The Ishqi he knew never cried. Even when she had gone off at him outside the hospital, the tears in her eyes had never fallen. Her tears at the engagement and every other time had been those fueled by anger. He’s only seen her break once and that was on the day of the wedding. But tonight, here, away from all prying eyes, she was crying.

Ishqi…

He stood as a silent watcher while she let her pain out, all the torment that she had never once hinted at. He wanted to freeze this moment in time for the two of them. While the world slept, they would awaken their conscience and say what was in their hearts. He would get the answers he craved.

Sudden movement brought his eyes back to focus on her figure as she swiped her hands frantically over her face to erase the evidence of the night.

How long had he been standing there, watching her?

She was unsteady on her feet after sitting fall night long and his hands automatically reached out to steady her before realizing that they were separated by more than just the glass between them.

Where have you gone Ishqi?

What do I have to say to get a reaction?

Why did you do this to us Ishqi…

His eyes tracked her as she moved towards the staff quarters with slow steps. Would she answer him today?

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Well then, that was it. Pulled that one from god knows where, but I'm relatively okay happy with how this one turned out! Let me know how it was!

Thank you to everyone who gave so much love to the first part of this! ❤️❤️
