RaghVi Os: Monsoon Lessons

Pallavi stretched her slender arm into an elegant posture and took a graceful turn on the beat of music. The ringing of her ghunghroo bells resonated the entire room as her feet slapped the floor, syncing with the rhythm of the kathak music. The big wooden clock behind her, on the wall read 10 minutes past 3 in the evening. She was a little early to her daily Kathak practice. Precisely, an hour earlier. The reason being the approaching exams of her fifth year kathak lesson which she had once left incomplete but resumed on her family's insistence. Amma was the biggest force to persuade her to join kathak classes.

She was ornated into a pristine white Anarkali which reached barely upto her ankle, the sheer sleeves of which contained her whole length of arm, pleated softly at the edge. A red dupatta cinched to her waist, accentuated her shape. A pair of bulky silver jhumka hanging both side of her face, which could divert some attention away from her deep neckline of her dress. Her hair moulded into a large bun and mid parting of her hair filled with pinch of vermillion. Her near ones would tell you, this attire was reserved for special occasions and not for a daily practice session but only her diary could reveal the secret behind this. She was in love. Yesterday, she had not only realised her love for Raghav but had confessed it to herself, proudly and loudly in her diary. Since that moment she couldn't keep her innerself calm. Like the teenager in love for first time, she would blush every now and then, would shy away talking to Raghav, would not be able to sleep peacefully. To celebrate this new euphoria she chose to dance till her heart's content and hence this attire.

Her movements halted at an abrupt termination of the music and the brightly illuminated room fall into darkness. Not everyday Rao Mansion witness such powercuts. It had to be a major issue. She realised, she had been engrossed into her dance to a degree that she had no hint about the weather outside the window. Inspite of the darkness, the room was dimly lit at the mercy of few sunrays that had escaped the shield of dark clouds. She quickly ran to the window for a better view. Opening the transparent windows she allowed the cool winds gushed over her face. The sky above presented the sight of large bulging clouds, carrying enormous drops to shower at any moment. From far the tress appeared to swing along the waves of air. Her heart filled with ecstacy at loveliness of the surrounding. An intense urge to feel the rain surged into her and she rushed out of the room. While descending through the staircase the terminal flares of her voluminous dress was touching every steps of the staircase . Her feet were cautious but not slow.

During her journey to the garden of the mansion she noticed Raghav in the hall area. He had his bossy and grumpy mode on, bickering at someone over the phone. She stopped to admire him from a distance. An inevitable yearning commanded her to embrace him right that moment but she somehow hushed her eagerness for she lacked a judicious explaination for her acute excitement. She blushed at the thought that she was in love with him and resumed her run to the exit fearing of devastating her control. The ringing sound of her ghunghroo captured his attention away from his phone towards her and he followed her curiously.

*******

Standing at the threshold of the exit he watched Pallavi entering the garden ,barefoot. It started to drizzle and pallavi seemed to make no efforts to shelter herself. Instead , among the shadowy trees of the garden she was searching for a space that would provide no barrier between the open sky and her. She loved rain from her child days. No amount of 'Acid Rain' theories had restricted her from enjoying the first rain of monsoon and certainly it couldn't have held back her today when she craved to celebrate her first love.

Contrary to her, Raghav hated rain. It always had reminded him of his miseries. From suffering the poverty to witnessing his father's and brother's death, rain had contributed to his countless grief. Growing up he couldn't adore monsoon as much as others do. Given his luxurious life, he might not have to face the disadvantages the monsoon offers but the painful memories of them never seemed to blur out of his mind.

"Pallavi...tum baarish mein kya kar rha hai?" Raghav cupped around his mouth before shouting, ensuring his voice could pierce through the buzzing sound of rain to reach her ears.

"Dikhai nhi deta tumhe ..Main baarish mein bheeg rhi hoon" she shouted back happily, jumping on the tiny grasses.

"Tum paagal ho gya hai kya?...baarish mein beemar pad jayega ..wapas aao" He frowned at her childish gesture. She had definitely been possessed by something. He thought. Her weird actions had been baffling him since morning.

"Kitna sundar mausam hai aur tumko bas beemar padne ka darr hai....bade unroamntic ho tum....Ghamndi Rao kahin ke" she rested her both the palms on her waist and pouted at her non enthusiastic husband.

"Bollywood movies dekh dekh ke tumhara dimag kharab ho gya hai." He taunted, irked at her reply.

"Baarish toh telugu movies mein bhi romantic hota hai.....tumko business ke alawa kisi chiz ka knowledge nhi hai" she rolled her eyes in disappointment and went back to enjoy the rain

"Tumko bada knowledge hai baarish mein romance ka" came his sarcastic comment.

"Haa hai na....uske liye kisi se pyaar karna padta hai" she replied looking away. Only she knew how she had hid her eyes from his scrutinizing gaze. He had this incredible talent to read her through her eyes and she hadn't prepared herself yet to confess her love to him.

"Achha ..tumko hua pyaar?" He probed. A sly grin played on his face.

"Haa hua na" she turned on her feet to avoid a direct eye contact.

"Kisse?"

"Tumko usse kya? ..tum yeh sab jaane do...Romance tumhare bas ka nhi hai..tum bas sadu aur ghamandi banke raho" her voice faked rudeness and cheeks flushing into red.

Puddles began plinking as the rainfall intensified. Pallavi spread her arms wide and let the drops splutter on her. Her little jumps caused the mud water splashed on her white dress, staining it in the process. Unbuckling the hair clips she freed her hair to get soaked in the water. Her wet dress had clasped to her figure and eyelids were struggling to remain opened against the force of droplets. She looked mesmerizing. Raghav, who was in a role of mere spectator of this enticing beauty could no longer resist himself from entering into the downpour. He reached to her with an essential speed and stood behind her. His one hand slowly grabbed her waist from behind and his face leaned near her ear.

"Nhi ata mujhe romance karna...tum sikhayega? " his husky voice questioned her.

She startled at the sudden distinctness of the familiar voice. Lean muscles of her belly drew in under his touch as her breath stuck at midway of its passage.

"Batao...sikhayega na?" Waiting longer of a verbal response, he repeated in a more pleading tone.

Pallavi, who was struggling to speak , surprisingly discovered her voice saying " koi fayda nhi, tumse nhi hoga" and locked her lips between her teeth to suppress the chuckle.

In response, she found herself being pulled more to his flesh and his muscular arm wrapped around her tightly to reflect the determination as he said " Try toh karke dekho..main bahut bright student hai....ekdam Arjun ke jaisa jisne apne guru ke murti se knowledge liya tha"

She laughed at the reference and corrected mockingly " Wo Arjun nhi Eklavya tha...kam se kam example toh sahi do"

"Tum history chhodo...humare chemistry mein focus karo" the way it was spoken, seductively, had her laughs disappeared leaving behind the nervous gulps.

"Main tumko demonstrate karega aur tum mereko guide karna..thik hai?" With this sentence of his, her worries enhanced. She knew it was not on Raghav to prove himself capable but the onus is on her to maintain her sanity throughout.

She couldn't agree. Neither any signs of her disagreement passed to him. His deal was too tempting to turn down and too dangerous to play along. She remained quiet and let Raghav take the lead.

His one arm still around her waist, securing her upright posture, another arm ventured to explore her. His agile fingers swept her wet hair to one side, uncovering her smooth skin of other side.

A warm touch interrupted the coldness of the skin behind her ear as he planted a kiss there. Enthralled by his bold move, her eyes closed to bear the rising heat inside her only to be encountered by his low toned question " yeh kaisa tha? Did you feel the romance?"

Wasn't her gesture enough now that she actually had to voice it out. She frowned at him

" Not that good" she was determined to criticize his actions just like any strict teacher.

Coaxed by this, his cleaver lips now traveled the outline of her ear, stopped at the earlobe and with a momentary stroke the jhumka was unhooked and got thrown away somewhere in the bushes.

He nibbled on the soft skin making her breaths erratic and labored. Molten waves of pleasure surged into her veins.

"How about this?" His question teased her emotions and his warm breaths tantalized her physical existence.

" Not bad...par tumko improvement ki bahut jarurat hai" Neither her words were steady nor was her stance. Her body desired to surrender but her stubborn mind was hell bent to oppose the idea. She needed to prove her point that he was not meant for romance or else she would lose the unsaid game they were playing.

He smirked at her audacity to stand strong in front of his mighty form. Any statement coated in challenge could excite him. She knew his weaknesses and how to take advantage of it. Kisses replaced by feathery stroke of tongue, gliding along the slender column of her neck. His extremely slow pace aflamed her already burning nerves. His nose buried into her sweet smell of lavender, he rubbed it at the junction of her neck and shoulder and asked " And this?"

As she was about to reply, his lips sucked the soft skin of her shoulder and plunged a long liquid kiss. The statement she had framed to discourage him, dissolved inside her throat and came out as a moan of pleasure.

Drooping forward, his lips nestled on her collar bone, tenderly assaulting the skin with alternate soft and harsh kisses and brazen hand glissaded leisurely along the length of her body, cataloging every dips and curves . Sharp spasms of need started to engulf her senses, one by one till there left with no other emotion but pure desires. Seeking for anchorage, her dainty figure arched forward and head rested on one of his shoulders. Her inflated chest were at display for him. Her quivering palm clutched fistful of her rain drenched dress, squeezing off the water from it. Her limbs felt bone less. Whatever space of her chest that her dress couldn't cover, was occupied by drops of water, some sliding down to vanish and some stayed only to be lost under the touch of his lips.

Their roles were long forgotten. His hormones grew wild with ripples of passion. Burning from inside, he hardly felt the soaking coldness of the rain.

What could have been perpetual was punctuated by a raged thunderstorm. As consciousness emerged into them, they separated from each other. They watched each other hyperventilating from a reachable distance. One embarrassed at her debacle and the other smirked proudly on his conquest.

He then grabbed the small length of dupatta, that had been spared after being wrapped around her waist. After flashing a mischievous smile he pulled her to him by the dupatta.

Next moment they both collided to each other and collapsed on the soggy mud.

Pallavi found herself placed under him, eyes squeezed shut, fingers had tightly clutched his t shirt to avoid the fall they had just experienced. She slowly opened her eyes to meet his. His head above her acted like a barrier to the falling drops on her face. He clearly registered her big, kohl smudged eyes. No tinge of fear left on them. Nor any embarrassment could be seen. All he could perceive was her longings for his love. That moment he knew that she had fallen for him the way he had for her, long back.

Their fingers entwined, they kept looking into each other's eyes for god knew how long before his gaze settled on her delicate lips. Her lids closed in anticipation and he took it as a stamp of approval . Leaning closer he fused his eager lips with her. Her soft lips melted under his warm touch but they didn't respond to any of his actions. He parted away, fearing he had misjudged her gestures.

Still her eyes closed, she squeezed their entangled fingers to resist him from moving away and requested with trembling lips" Finish what you have started" .

What followed next was their lips catching up the wildness of each other, fighting for dominance till every inch of her lips was devoid of the lipstick she had few minutes back, till their lungs begged to breath, till their lips found an other spot to brand each other.

***********

Sky changed to beautiful cocktail blue shade and rain softened to occasional droplets. They laid peacefully in each other's arms on the grasses. Bathed completely into mud they could not be identified with the colour of their clothes.

Raghav turned to face pallavi and said " Abhi bhi ek confusion hai mujhe?"

"Kya?" Pallavi asked playing with his beard.

"Tumne bataya nhi tumko pyaar kisse hua?...sara romance mere sath kar liya..uske liye bhi toh kuch bachane ka tha" he threw a sympathetic face for an non existing person.

Pallavi, who was delighted till now scowled at him. Her smile turned into a frown and she jumped on her feet. She pulled her duptta mercilessly which was stuck to his arm, caused him to wince in pain. With anger filled voice she said " Nhi hoga tumse kuch..tumhare bas ka nhi hai yeh romance...tum ghamandi hi rahoge...main jaa rhi hoon..byee" saying this she stomped her feet and walked away leaving behind a smiling Raghav Rao.
