If they went back after coming to TM's house for wedding, then probably KSJ might not have revealed it to his family before about TM breaking rule to save him. Someone might have spilled the beans and there might have been an uproar from all the people present at mandap. KSJ's father only thought about his prestige and perhaps no amount of pooja or daan dakshina could remove the bad remark. If KSJ had tried to convince his father or plead him subtly after returning home, then I can relate where he was coming from.
