Yes, that sounds very selfish. But I want to think that he means same for himself like he will do anything for girls family. Like when he came running for mausi and was worried.

He will protect them..... but won't stand up for them when it comes to sanskaars.... Even now he is just asking Sonu to bear all the taunts of Sarlaji in the name of sanskaar
