To A Princess on Her Birthday!
Once upon a time there was a little five-year-old girl who loved to go for a walk in the morning. So she used to go for a walk every morning with her mother and a friend enjoying the weather.
One day when she was out for a walk, she saw a little white puppy. She used to love and respect any form of life. She was just looking at the small puppy with affectionate eyes when she saw a car coming. She shouted and yelled to the puppy to move but as it was a puppy, it just kept playing.
The girl then ran behind it and saved it but broke her leg. The puppy got a little cut too. She kept crying and shouting for help for the puppy. Went back home and asked her uncle to bring the puppy to the doctor. She kept crying until the puppy was given aid. Then she was happy and even forgot about her broken leg and pain. Never said a word as if she was comforted by the news that the little puppy is okay.
At night when her leg was swollen and got a purple color, her mom noticed it and brought her to the doctor.
This was a story of love, courage, and humanity. That girl was none other than out own Maheen if you remember her. That friend was me and a lot of times I used to call her Appi (means di in Urdu) not to tease her but for respect that I had in my heart for her. She truly was an epitome of love, and courage. Those of you who knew her can definitely attest this.
It's the birthday of a Princess,
To whom no one can love less,
I wish she would bloom like a flower,
And on everyone love and Kindness would she shower,
Thanks for being a special friend,
And in dark to give me light and hand to lend.
Thanks for being a true loving sister,
When world went upside-down like a twister.
You have helped me through thick and thin,
And at time when I lost hope you let me win.
You have always been there, when I had a need,
You listened to me when no one paid me heed,
Every night in the bed, I tell you,
There is something in my mind and that is you.
The distance between us cannot take us far,
For the love between us like a door opened a jar.
This is the first time in 16 years Maheen that I will be celebrating my birthday alone, without you… but as you celebrate our birthday with God and Angels do remember to look down at me as usual I will be lighting your candles on the cake as well as mine.
Happy birthday Maheen!
I recently got to know that Ritu's birthday, who is also no more with us, is also on the 12th so happy birthday to you too Ritu!
