As we have been talking about Gul’s heroes, can anyone please explain me how was Maan Singh khurana from Geet?
I know a lot about ASR, AAK, SSO and now AVM but not much about MSK. I did watch geet on and off but It was so long ago that I can’t remember anything significant.
Hi. I'm a silent member. Just started watching IPZN after the holi episode. I used to watch Geet regularly when it was actually airing on TV.
Geet was different from other Gul's shows initially because it was not meant to be a romance. They tried to highlight social issues like honor killing and fraud weddings by NRI guys to get girl's money. The show was about Geet who was initially a very meek girl and becomes strong after going through a lot of trials. Initially, it was supposed to end with Geet finding the culprit and bringing him to justice with Maan's help. But once she came to the city and the office track started their jodi and chemistry was so appreciated that they decided to extend it and turned it into a romance story and the social aspect and getting her justice took a back seat.
Maan was different from other Gul heroes. He was very rude and angry all the time. But he was like that to everyone and not just Geet. He did give lectures to Geet every time they met, just like AVM does to Ishqi. But in his case, he was right, even though he misunderstands her situation most of the time. Geet is angry after the lecture but later on, she actually thinks about what he said and applied that to her life when she next faces a problem. She grows from a meek girl, who cannot raise her voice or even her head in front of the men in her family, to a brave, strong-willed woman who leaves her home and embarks on a new journey in a new city is all due to Maan's guidance. That's why Maan falls in love with her. He admires the quiet inner strength she has.
Unlike other Gul heroes, he never insulted her in public nor hurt her, manhandling is also very minimal. He supports her through all her problems and appreciates her input when she worked as her secretary. Out of all the Gul heroes, I think he spent the most time in office, doing actual work.
The first time he behaves badly with her is when she tells him that she's pregnant. Even then he's more hurt that she never told him before. Because he's been helping her with everything and he thought they were close. He was actually expecting her to confess her love for him when she drops the pregnancy truth. But when she reveals the whole truth he realizes his mistake and immediately makes amends. Their confession after that was the most unique one I had seen on ITV. They went on a private date and just talked. There was no "I love you" from either one of them, but they promise to be together forever.
The show did go bad towards the end, but Maan always was there for her. There was a mini misunderstanding and break up later on but that lasted only for a week or so. I remember the channel got so many calls from fans to bring them back together that they had to cut that track short.
I have watched all of Geet and IPK and bits of QH and Ishqbaaz. I feel like Gul's every show is the diluted version of her previous one. I started watching this one because the initial episodes were so much fun with Karthik and Ishqaan scenes. I've taken a break since the whole drama started after Ishqi walked out of mandap and I will wait till the truth is revealed before resuming.
Sorry for the long post. I read about Geet and couldn't stop myself from replying...
