Saw a few clips of today's episode. It is evident that Virat carries a lot of guilt over Pakhi's haalat. He has mixed feelings - on one hand he has realised that what Virakhi had was just infatuation and is irritated with Pakhi for clinging to that endlessly. But he is also feeling sorry for Pakhi because while he got an opportunity to move on, she didn't. But apart from these, I think there is also a guilt - that he is somehow responsible for Pakhi's condition. That his stupid vaada got her into this mess - where she is without a husband and unable to forget her past too. After all, both Virat and Pakhi genuinely believed that what they had was undying love that would last a lifetime - it was only after Virat's blossoming relationship with Sai that he realised the fallacy of that presumption.

What he doesn't know is that in a lot of ways Pakhi was still responsible for her own fate. She too made wrong decisions as much as Virat. The difference between Pakhi and Virat is in the ability to accept reality. If Virat had been single and Pakhi has fallen in love with Samrat, Virat would have accepted that without resentment.

The question that came to my mind is : is guilt the reason for Virat's reluctance in coming clean with Sai regarding his past with Pakhi? Is he scared that Sai will judge him harshly since he himself blames himself in this issue? Is he perhaps ashamed of the vaada-kaand because it caused a lot of mess in the lives of Samrat, Pakhi, Virat, Sai (from Virat's POV).

May be he thinks that if Sai got to know that if he can break his promise to Pakhi that he won't love any other woman, she may think he'll break the promise given to her father

Nice summary!

I think all 3 but he doesn’t feel guilty about his relationship with sai! But yes he cannot live fully when he knows his vaada spoilt her life. He is too good a man to ignore that.

But if pakhi is directing her anger towards sai, then he might lose that guilt factor also in future.

I think he's mostly just afraid of rejection after he so idiotically told Sai that he cannot ever love her like a wife before their wedding. That he feels guilty about Pakhi and is super nice to her despite her terrible attitude towards Sai is totally obvious. He really does give her a very long rope. But I think his silence doesn't come from guilt (I don't think he feels THAT guilty!). It comes from his fear that he has killed his chances with Sai with his earlier behavior.

Yes, he definitely doesn't feel guilty about falling in love with Sai because he knows it is the real deal, while what he had with Pakhi was just infatuation. But he does feel guilty about his vaada and the mess it created. The writers have tried to show his soft nature when he is being extra nice to Pakhi and forgiving of her transgressions - he feels guilty about his role in Pakhi's condition, attributes a lot of her misdeeds to her desperation and genuinely wants his ex to be as happy as he is.

Hmm...Interesting.

I can understand that earlier he was afraid of rejection - since his vaada had put a major distance between them. But since getting shot, he has realised that Sai is into him. He feels confident enough that his kiss will be well received. If he can kiss, he can come clean with his Sai regarding his past. Why such a reluctance even now (in pre-cap it still looks like jalebi bhai).

Edit: I watched the episode and you're right. I don't think he is THAT guilty.

Yes, Virat is guilty coz Pakhi always blames him for her own misery and guilt trips him, reminding her about stupid Vaada ..

And Virat is someone who doesn't put blame on others unlike you know who ..He knows he did give that stupid vaada and Virat is also someone who doesn't remind others their part in the misery.. He did give that vaada and asked to go ahead for wedding.. BUT to marry Samrat in the first place by assuming Virat was just flirting was her decision.. It was her impatience, ego and misjudgment.. During Haldi when she came face to face with Virat, Why ask him to cancel the wedding? when she was the one who consented to it? If she was so in love, and her parents too were ok with her calling off, why be so delusional? Virat never put any gun on her head to wed? She could have backed out.

Pakhi blames everyone but herself.. She had the audacity to say her husband did not spend even 7 hrs with her but she is so coward that she has not even once mentioned his reason for disappearance which was she.. She is so selfish and pathetic that knowing her MIL Mansi, and rest of family members including her so called love Virat are so concerned for Samrat.. she chooses to stay mum.

She doesn't love Virat.. She just wants to have first claim on him.. The way she was spewing venom saying Sai is the biggest thorn in her life.. like really?

Finally this should be beginning of breaking vaada completely.

I think its guilt that makes Virat soft for pp. He feels guilty that he is in love with Sai and dreaming of a life with her, moving on when pp does not have Samrat around. I dont think pp will ever let him get over his guilt. She's too selfish. Ok she is upset to see her "lover" move on but she really needs to get over her self pity. And at some point Virat needs to stop allowing her to influence him so much.

I said this in another thread a while ago - Virat is ashamed of the vaada he gave Pakhi - which decent man with good family values will pledge to love his to-be bhabhi forever, esp when he respects his brother? That is why Virat never acknowledges the vaada. He never initiates any talk on the vaada even to clear up the matter, he deflects the topic without directly refuting the vaada (cz then he wld hv to acknowledge it) when Pakhi brings it up, and he doesnt come clean on his past with Sai coz he cannot do it without mentioning the shameful vaada.

Mind u, he is not ashamed of breaking the vaada - he is ashamed of making it!

I suppose you are right....he does feel ashamed, especially considering Samrat left for duty overhearing their angsty phone call...

I guess at one point he realised the absurdity of the vaada and changed the terms and conditions of his vaada to just being Pakhi's friend. But Pakhi is still hung up on it... expecting him to keep the promise.
