I think the shower scene is what helps Pallavi see a bit of his mental suffering. He stood by her when no one else did, during the abortion fiasco, and now it's her turn. Nope it was perfect for the situation and where they are in the relationship. I would have found it odd if it were a tight hug. That's why even when Farhad appeared, they weren't awkward or didn't break apart as we usually see on ITV. It felt very natural, like you hug a friend and I was super impressed by that little detail.
