Hi everyone!!

Just recently subscribed Colors on TV and came across this show. Kinda got curious about it.

Could anyone just give me a gist of the show and also a small character sketch? It would be quite helpful to understand...

Thanks a lot...

Nikki

The story revolves around two sisters, who are each other's best friends and they look out for each other. One is young, Jasmine, and naive, which is to be expected since she has never had any real problems in life. She is a typical young, care free girl. She is immature, bratty but she has a spine and knows what she wants in life. She stands up for herself. She dreams of going overseas and lies to no one about it. Of course, it's not the world's worst dream, since millions of people share this dream. However, the problem is the writers really have not presented a good reason for her to be so obsessed with going to Canada since she has a great life in the Punjab. She comes off as strong though, capable of fighting back and standing up for herself.

The other sister is Tejo. She is older and pursues her studies. She wants to stay in the Punjab, which in itself is not good or bad. Emigration or staying in one's homeland is not a crime. She seems to be a busy body and a know it all, but this probably stems from the fact that she has horrible parents. Her mother only dreams of Canada and has burdened her daughters with this goal and the father is spineless, as he seems to stand back and pretends he can't do anything. He leans on Tejo, too much, which forces her to take responsibility she really shouldn't have to.

In the US, which is where I watch, Jasmine was shown as the lead of the show, but it looks like in India, Tejo is promoted as the lead. You can imagine, we don't think emigrating or dreaming of emigrating is a crime in the US, so maybe that's why Jasmine is presented as the lead here.

Then there is Fateh, who may be quite more devious than first presented. His sole goal in life is his obsession with Jasmine. In fact, his obsession with Jasmine is equally matched with Jasmine's obsession with Canada. However, Jasmine hurts no one with her crazy obsession but Fateh's obsession will result not only in the dissolution of the sisters' relationship (the real shame here) but frankly, breaking Jasmine's heart and trust. He knowingly withheld information that he did not get the job. His obsession is driven by one selfish need: to trap Jasmine, though in this show, that is being written as "love" and he is the hero. In real life, any guy who would obsess over a person he didn't even know, stalk her and ingratiate himself into her life and do go to any lengths to keep her (including lying), would be labelled as grounds for an FIR. Here in this show, it's a plot device to make Jasmine look bad for, you know, having a dream that, all 20 year olds have.

That's the show; thought a different perspective is required.

I really want to understand though how Jasmine was promoted as the lead in US

Like - can you share promo links or something?

In Badshah’s song (udaariyaan promotions) - the lyrics are very clear for Jasmine - which kind off eliminates the thought of her being the female lead

Lekin Jyada Lambi Chaudi Nahi Hai Iski Kahaani”

Also in this song and B Praak’s song also - they always made Fateh and Tejo stand together

Also these people had come to big boss to promote their show - raabta song

(The video is there on Priyanka’s Instagram)

There also it’s kinda clear that Fatejo is the end game

I really want to understand how was jasmine promoted as FL in the US

Quite nice to know a different perspective... 🤗

Considering the fact that I have started watching the show since last week, Saturday to be more precise as I only lately subscribed Colors, its nice to read different perspectives.

Thank you so much for this.

Jasmin's dream of going to Canada is surely not any crime. With the descriptions that I read, my current main question is why is she so obsessed that she put her family's reputation at a stake by publicly refusing the marriage and creating such a drama? I mean I agree that she has always dreamt of going to Canada but then, is marriage the only way? Plus she created such a huge drama in the wedding without even caring for her family's reputation let alone the Virks...

Regarding Tejo I understand... with the family totally obsessed with Canada and a spineless father who relies on Tejo for a hell lot of things, no wonder she is like this.

Coming to the main FL and all, I have no idea about it because as much as I caught up yesterday, it gave the impression that Tejo is the main FL. But then again, as I always say, the final call is of the makers. They can change the main lead as per the audience's reaction... have already experienced this with one of my previous shows where the makers made a complete mess with the leads.

Regarding Fateh... His character surely confused me as hell. The guy seems totally obsessed with Jasmin. At least Jasmin and Tejo have some clear stands... one has her Canada obsession (as the makers have projected it) and the other, her love for her homeland. Fateh's character especially his obsession with Jasmin is confusing me.

This is surely indicating towards a break in the bond between the two sisters and this is something that is disappointing me the most.

Gashmeer Mahajani became my favourite after I watched Anjaan. And I even watched Shrikant Bashir for him. I used to be crazy about Anjaan when it was on air... Was a silent reader in that forum because tab khud ka phone tha nahi humare paas.

In fact, I even sat through the first few episodes of his current show just for his acting... but show bardasht nahi hua. 😆

Since I'm not from Maharashtra and know Marathi only in bits and pieces, I haven't watched all his works... thoda bahut dekha hai.
