Pallavi admired the beauty infront of her, the cake that she baked today looked amazingly fluffy and the aroma made everyone's mouth drip in the house. Amma stood proud at the door as she explained the servants of their work. Pallavi was used to baking cakes even in the D-family because it was a tradition of them to cut the cake baked by her at midnight. To say everyone was a fan would be an understatement especially Mansi who would grill her until she baked her favourite cake. She was pleased with how it turned out and was super sure that Keerti would love this surpirse from her.
"Amma main aa gaya. Aur koi samaan chahiye kya?" her trance broke at her husband's voice who shouted for his mother from the hall.
"Yeh Raghav na poora ghar sir pe utha lega. Pallavi tum cake dekho main isko dekhta hai." Amma assured her going out to her son while Pallavi took hold of piping ready to ice the cake as per Keerti's taste.
At midnight Farhad got Keerti back home as explained by his bhabhi who had planned a surprise for her nanad.
"Farhad yeh light kyun chali gayi hai. Ek toh aaj bhai ke kaam ki wajah se hume bhi ghar aane main late ho gaya. Maine bola tha na ki tum kaam karo main auto se chali jaungi." Keerti balanced herself trying not to fall in the dark.
"Lagta hai fuse chala gaya main dekhta hoon." Farhad surpressed his laughter, moving to his supposed position.
"Farhad!Farhad! Ab tum kidhar gaye?" Keerti tried searching for him when the light turned on. Her family stood infront of her shouting a "HAPPY BIRTHDAY" with frills all over her and in the air. Everyone hugged her wishing for a beautiful life for her.
"Keerti main ab bas tumko khush dekhna chahta hai hamesha."Amma shed some happy tears.
"Amma!" Keerti hugged her mother.
"Amma mera hote hue meri behen ko kabhi koi problem ho sakta hai kya." Raghav bugged in.
"Aur main toh apni best friend ko kabhi sad hone hi nhin dungi." Pallavi joined the family.
"Saree ka dukaan tumhara zaroorat nahin padega kyunki abhi Keerti ka bhai zinda hai." Raghav taunted in a friendly way.
"Achcha bhulo matt ki woh meri wajah se idhar hai." Pallavi retorted back giving a side hug to Keerti.
"Uske liye toh main forever grateful rahega mera Saree ka dukaan." Raghav murmured to himself happy to see his family happy.
"Cake time." Pallavi shouted running to the kitchen to get her masterpiece.
"Wow tumne banaya?" Keerti asked being surprised.
"Aur kya." Pallavi placed the cake on the table while everyone took their positions. Amma and Raghav on each side of her and Pallavi beside Raghav.
"Saree ka dukaan isme tumne mirchi toh nahin daala hai na." Raghav pulled her leg murmuring to her.
"Nahin kyunki mere dushman sirf tum ho yahan. Toh woh mirchi bass tumhare liye." Pallavi replied with a sarcastic smile.
"Aur mere liye hi hoyega. Ardhamainda?" he replied with authority as everyone sang the happy birthday song to Keerti.
Keerti fed her Amma and then everyone else running around the house to every servant present when she finally came to Pallavi.
"Thank you iss sabke liye." Keerti thanked Pallavi.
"Are yeh toh mera farz tha. Aur waise bhi main jaanti thi Raghav se kuch nhin hoga." Pallavi replied feeding Keerti a piece from the cake.
"Excuse me. Main na tumse achcha planning karr sakta hai." Raghav turned to face his wife.
"Rehne do. Ek shaadi toh tumse sahi se plan nahin hui." she snorted at him.
"Jaise tumko bada interest tha usme. Dekho Saree ka dukaan ab tum zyada bol raha hai." he warned her.
"Sach hi keh rahi hoon. Kyun hai na Farhad?" Pallavi asked her devar.
"Bhabhi toh is always right." Farhad spoke in reflex without even thinking of the consequences.
"farhad tu zyada bol raha hai. Tujhe toh main." Raghav eyed his men.
"Tum Farhad ko kuch nahin bol sakte. Sach hi toh keh raha hai bechara." Pallavi replied.
"Mera aadmi. Mera marzi main usko jo bole. Tum kya karega." Raghav raised his brows.
'Main-main. Main yeh karungi." Pallavi smeared the cake icing on his cheek and ran behind Amma.
"Saree ka dukaan. Ab main tumko chhodega nahin." he screamed running behind her as she sped behind Keerti in her defense.
"Dekho Raghav tum dur raho theek hai." Pallavi warned him.
"Tum ab warning dene ka position main nahin hai." Raghav spoke taking a handfull of icing and running behind her as she made an escape to their room.
Stepping inside she ran straight to the bathroom and tried latching the door behind her, keyword being tried as a foot stopped her from doing so. Raghav came inside while she kept backing inside unaware that she just got themself in the shower.
"Ab kidhar jayega tum Saree ka dukaan." he spoke in his warm tone.
"Dekho Raghav meri saree gandi ho jayegi." she tried resenting.
"Aur mera face uska kya." he raised his brows at her.
"Woh main abhi wash karwati hoon aao." she walked past him to the exit of the shower area when Raghav turned her back by her wrist.
"Raghav" she spoke in a soft voice.
"main hisaab barabar karne main maanta hai." he spoke smearing her face with the icing running it through her cheek as she inhaled his scent.
"Bass ho gaya na ab jaane do. Face wash karna hai." she wriggled trying to get out of this hold.
"Woh main abhi kardeta hai." he smiled michiveously opening the shower above them drenching them in cold water.
"Raghav !!" she shrieked.
"Main toh tumhara help hi kar raha hai saree ka dukaan." he laughed looking at her drenched face when she pulled him too surprising him.
They got lost eyeing each other with strong gaze. None of them ready to back out as the music being played in the hall worked out as their background music explaining their feels loosing the moment to them.
