Is hypothyroidism more prevalent in India nowadays?

People, who are suffering from depression, no to low energy, weight gain, insomnia, digestive issues, etc - and if it’s not caused by the quarantine/isolation and also by old age - would benefit a great deal from getting their thyroids checked...

I know a few people who had all the physical and mental symptoms of hyphothyroidism ( underactive thyroid) but their blood test results showed the normal range, yet their health improved a great deal when put on medication... (on a low dosage though)

But you’ve to find a endocrinologist who’s willing to prescribe it to you

Hypothyroidism is a very serious problem in India, where 1 in every 10 men & women suffer from hypothyroidism.

42 million people in India have thyroid disorders and hypothyroidism is the most common of thyroid disorders in India.

The prevalence of hypothyroidism in India is 11%, compared with only 2% in the UK and 4·6% in the USA. This is possibly linked to long-standing iodine deficiency in the country, which has only been partly corrected over the past 20 years.
