Since they have decided to whitewash Bhavani, there will definitely be a backstory. Someone Bhavani loved (is she even capable of that?) , maybe a sister probably married a servant. That servant exploited his wife...maybe sold her into a brothel.
When Devyani wanted to marry Pulkit, all the flashbacks came back. She was afraid that Devyani will suffer the same fate as her sister at the hands of Pulkit. So she forcefully separated her from Pulkit and Harini and hoped to marry Devyani to someone else. But she did not expect Devyani to lose her mental balance. Hence, whatever Bhavani did stemmed from her pain and her instinct to protect Devyani from harm. Lo and behold...Bhavani becomes a coconut - upar se kadak, andar se naram. Doesn't matter that she was least bothered about Devyani's well-being after DevKit wedding and more happy about Sai not coming back to CN.
With Bhavani's whitewashing nothing else makes much sense. Virat's toxic upbringing is a major point in his characerization since his weaknesses, his flaws become unrelatable without that. The ups and downs SaiRat have faced loses a lot of context since the toxic family had a major role in their MUs (Pakhi being the other factor). If the writers themselves don't care about the story and characters, why should we.......
