Tough times, these. I hope and pray that everyone who has ever been on this thread is safe and keeping well. I didn't return to this story, but to borrow words from Bashir Badr -- Kuchh toh majburiyan rahin hongi, yun koii bewafa nahin hota.

When the heart feels heavy, it often turns to poetry and of late, I've been revisiting some of my favorite pieces. It reminded me of this thread and the lovely time I spent here sharing poetry. Leaving behind something I read on the resilience of human spirit and second chances -

Kuchh kaam hamein niptane hain

Jinhein janne wale jaane hain

Kuchh pyaar dulaar ke dhande hain

Kuchh jag ke dusre phanday hain

Hum mangte nahin hazaar baras

Dus paanch baras

Do chaar baras

While writing Ibn-e-Insha's sher for the note, I was reminded of his ghazal that I had intended for the next chapter of this story. It's a very famous piece, and has been made immortal after Jagjit Singh lent his voice to it.

kal chaudhvīñ kī raat thī shab bhar rahā charchā tirā

kuchh ne kahā ye chāñd hai kuchh ne kahā chehrā tirā

ham bhī vahīñ maujūd the ham se bhī sab pūchhā kiye

ham hañs diye ham chup rahe manzūr thā parda tirā

is shahr meñ kis se mileñ ham se to chhūTīñ mahfileñ
