You can also let him know that almost all of us on IF (who followed Tanaa Banaa) felt that although Zain was a well-fleshed out character, Zoya was not as much, so....you can go through the posts on this thread...all of us have done a lot of in-depth analysis, highlighting both the positives as well as the flaws in the writing of the drama. You should find it useful, for your interview.

You can also let Mr. Imam know that most people (at least my friends and family, here in India, who watched TB along with me, but are not on IF) have similar views on TB.

Would have loved to come along and support you, but sadly am not on SM.

In fact, will even go to the extent of saying that if they had got Zoya’s character development right, which would obviously include the appropriate flow of the Zoya-Zain dynamic, TB could have been the new-age ZGH!!

I too was looking forward to seeing the beach scene where Zain was serenading Zoya, that was shown in the lyrical OST...they looked absolutely divine in it! :)

Guess they would have edited it out...just as they did another scene from the lyrical OST, when Zain was wiping his hands with Zoya’s dupatta in the kitchen!😂

Hum TV should release them as highlights or something of that sort, na...

Loved the points that you pointed out to bring out the progressive outlook of the show...this was one genuinely good family...no politics, no negativity! But were completely believable, too, in their dynamic...khatta meetha to be precise!😇

Your comment on Dadi and Billoo being the OGs of this family is ROFL...couldn’t agree more! I even liked Zoya’s mom’s character a lot...she could have been used much more effectively...she got Zain really well, and could also cut Zoya to size! Sadly, a missed opportunity! :(

As you rightly said, Javeria was very good...she seems to be a seasoned actress...her role was very well fleshed out, and she did complete justice to it!👌

My love and fondness for Danyal, you already know! 🤩 After eons, have liked an actor so much...and to think, the guy is so young!!!

In fact, I liked Alizeh also a lot...she added a lot to Zoya...subtleties, even when Zoya was downright irritating!! And to think that she understands the nuances of acting at such a young age...I mean, she is even younger than Danyal, I think...

So glad that you mentioned her chic hairdo....it looks really good on her, and went with her progressive characterisation as well!👍 Loved those scenes where she wore that one-sided clip...suited her, a lot.

As you rightly said, waiting to see a lot more of Danyal, and definitely Danyal-Alizeh, as well! :)))

ZGH is obviously a cult classic... the best, IMO, to have emerged from the Pak drama industry....that rare masterpiece, where everything just came together... as if was meant to be! Will always remain the ultimate benchmark for me...

In fact, I rewatched it again in the lockdown last year... and, Thank God, I did so... the layers to it are simply mind-boggling...should actually be a case study, as to how to use the performing arts as an effective medium to communicate the complexities of human behavior...in a format that is comprehensible and can be assimilated, without diluting the impact of the message conveyed.

On the surface, ZGH is a love story of 2 polar opposites, but scratch beneath the obvious, it has life lessons of the most amazing kind! Truly a masterpiece! 🙌

Now, coming to what could have been the new age ZGH, Tanaa Banaa, you've got to be kidding me, when you say that you're going to re-watch the drama! Saying this, 'cos I was thinking exactly the same thing, a few days back! That, a few months down the line, I am going to revisit TB. ..

I was also thinking (and discussing with my friend) about possible tracks that can be explored if a Season 2 were to be made, and in my mind, there is a lot still left unsaid, especially Zoya's side of the "Tanaa Banaa"...and, come to think of it, that will be the only way, this drama can see closure, with this Season indicating just the beginning of Zain's importance in Zoya's life... the start of the Zoya-Zain love story!

Darn, it's been a week since I have written about TB, but still gives me so much happiness penning these thoughts together...TB will obviously remain very close to my heart! 💓

So you're watching IJ now.... am also planning to catch up on it soon...was actually my original preference of the 3 Ramzan specials, thanks to the teasers, Wahaj, Madiha and the gorgeous OST, but then TB entered my life, and you know what happened thereafter!😂

My friend has also been recommending IJ along with Raqeeb Se...upar se, now your recommendation....will definitely try and watch, both.

Yes I think there is a possibility of exploring a lot with Zoya-Zain..I would like to see them both coming together to build a start up and how they face the challenges together and establish a sound business..considering Zoya was so passionate about business management..and Zain is a smart cookie..it would be nice to show them do something different and break the cookie clutter.

Along side that, they can also show them do family planning 😛 and how like a new age couple, they manage work and life like a boss..❤️ I have always craved for shows that go beyond usual family politics and mazloom aurat concept..because whilst South Asian communities still have a long way to go in terms of being progressive....the new gen is different and we are somewhat getting there.

My sadistic heart even enjoys an out and out black or grey shaded women lol..(one of the primary reasons why I used to enjoy watching the very controversial Jalan lol) I just cant see women shedding tears all the time.

WoW, so you think Zain and Zoya should begin a start-up? Very interesting thought, my friend...I envisage it slightly differently, although in a similar mode of breaking the stereotypical clutter...

Since they ended Season 1 with Zain starting his new job in a couple of days, I want to see him as a really successful professional (found it a very interesting touch that they showed him having done his Masters in Supply Chain....not just attention to detail, but offbeat as well, I thought)

This is one season 2 where I will not mind a leap, like of around 2 years...Zoya has completed her MBA (time frame of the leap depending on an MBA course in Pakistan), and is planning her career ahead, when Zain’s dad suggests that she should join the family business, and all.

I also want to see the family dynamic play out in this decision (support/hesitation from the most unexpected quarters)

I want to see Zain, true to his nature, wanting to be the doting husband, but not quite being able to, in the dogged pursuit of his career....

While I would hate it if they changed Zoya’s basic fabric (her kickass attitude minus her taking Zain for granted is uniquely Zoya, and makes her truly appealing, even to me), I would like to see the changing dynamic in their day to day equations, with greater efforts from Zoya’s side...case in point, the “lights in the room” is such a Zain-Zoya thing...I would like to see the both of them evolving through such relatable instances...both of them having crucial presentations at work...Zain having to make one the next day, and therefore seeking some good night’s rest; Zoya having to prepare one, and true to her night owl nature, wanting to stay up and complete it...they start off with their quintessential arguments...Zoya leads all of us (and even Zain to believe) that he will be the one compromising...Zain, totally exasperated is just about to give in...something transpires....and, lo and behold, we’re in for a surprise!❤️
And, that is also where I see the work-life balance fitting in (loved your point on the South Asian communities/couples, in this context)!👍

I also want to see much more of Dadi and Billoo in OG mode (taking a cue from a certain someone)😉

I would love to see much more of Zoya’s mom...there was something so serene about her persona! :)

And obviously, these voices of reason would just have to be there to share their pearls of wisdom...’cos there can’t be Zain and Zoya’s Tanaa Banaa without the need for sone serious tuning!😁

LOVED your idea on the family planning bit...what an absolutely gorgeous thought, and so progressive too!👏

Can already imagine the characteristic Zoya-Zain banter on this...starting from point A (read: to plan a baby or not) and ending at point Z (read: baby boy or baby girl!)🤣

What an EPIC scene that will be! Danyal and Alizeh will just nail it!💗

I will definitely watch Raqeeb Se...I looked up the details after my other friend and your recommendation...,the writer is Bee Gul (she is a powerful writer)...remember watching her “Talkhiyan” when it was telecast on Zindagi...a fine adaptation of Arundhati Roy’s “The God of Small Things”, and the director of Raqeeb Se is Kashif Nisar, right (the Pak drama industry’s current best, IMO)...just LOVED his “Ranjha Ranjha Kardi”...would place it in the same league as ZGH...the masterpiece element, being common to the both of them, the genre obviously being very different...watch it, if you haven’t already....in case you have, lemme know what you think of it! :)

Some afterthoughts, on possible tracks in TB S2...

The “Shartnama” was a unique premise to base TB on...sadly, I felt, it wasn’t necessarily used to its full potential....

I would like Zain and Zoya to reflect back on this piece of their journey...how it all started...dissect each shart one by one...appreciate the positives of some, and have a good laugh over the foolhardiness of the others!

I want them to then devise their own “Mohabbatnama”, the driving force, for their bond in S2....and, would like to see how different it will be from the “Shartnama”....could be a beautiful take of a new age couple’s rules of a marriage...how they value companionship over everything else, but at the same time, highlighting the importance of the larger family’s dynamic, and their support system, both physically and emotionally...and this time, would like to see this playing out, with regards to both Zain and Zoya’s families.

I for one, had loved Zaroon and Kashaf’s “shaadi ke kuch rules hone chahiye”...the most beautiful part was the last and final rule (in the last epi) came from Kashaf...and the most understated part of it...neither Kashaf nor Zaroon even realised that it was a “rule”...they had travelled such a long distance...had, clearly understood the basic premise of a successful marriage!❤️

That is, in a nutshell, what I would like the essence of Tanaa Banaa’s Season 2 to be...both, Zoya and Zain deserve it....both, Danyal and Alizeh deserve it!🤞

Just like I firmly believe that Fawad Khan found his match as an actor in Sanam Saeed, Danyal Zafar and Alizeh Shah are also quite something else!✨👍👌
