I was very excited to see Ali's brother not Danyal atm as he has a tag of nepo kid. He proved all of them wrong with his performance. Wishing him more success and love.

I read all your analysis of every episode , will surely miss that. Hope to discuss a show again with you soon.

Take care.

You can call me Suruchi:)

Hi Suruchi! What a lovely name, you have!🤗

So, IZN was the first Pak drama you had watched...good choice, indeed! Zahid and Sonya were outstanding in it!

You are not alone when you say that no one expected Danyal to turn out the way he did....sadly, even I had that unconscious bias of a nepo kid about him...frankly, had no idea about the guy, whatsoever...except for his second name ringing a bell, and that uncanny resemblance with Ali Zafar!

But thank God for the TB teasers that I bumped into, and then, Danyal’s interview on Something Haute...there was something about the guy that immediately caught my attention...in hindsight, I think it was this very honest and pleasant vibe about him...in both the interview and the teasers...

Thankfully, I went with my gut (plus the 20 odd minute duration of TB was a clear winner)...Danyal Zafar has just blown me away, with his talent! :)

As you rightly said, he has proven everyone wrong with his performance...he now needs to ensure that it wasn’t a “flash in the pan”, by choosing the right kind of scripts and continue with his hard work and efforts. After all, as they say, aptitude is nothing without attitude! 😊

I for one, will definitely be rooting for him, and guess, a lot of us (you, included) will, too!🤗

On the aside, you should watch his Something Haute interview on YT (if you haven’t already)...he handled the question on Nepotism, really well...an intelligent answer, without getting defensive about it at all!👍

And yes, thank you so much for taking time out to read all my analyses...really happy that you liked them!🙏🤩

I am going to miss posting them too...is going to take some getting used to...life without TB and Zain!😔

But yes, as you rightly said, the bright side is that we will interact again...another day, another show...look forward to bonding with you, and sharing notes on a new show!😊

Until such time, take care, my Dear...

Loads of love,

DocD

You have summarised the essence of the show so well!👏

Danyal was saying that apparently, he’s been receiving comments with people asking him ke mard hokey yeh sab kaise bardasht kar lete ho, and all....loved his reply...”this show is meant exactly for them!”😂

to demonstrate Zoya’s character arc (as they did Zain’s)....this gem of a show would have turned into a masterpiece!

TB has defo made it to my list of all time faves!❤️

P.S. Your dp is that of Imlie. Guess you are an Imlie fan...I used to love the show too, until the crap started around 2 weeks back. Hopefully, better sense will prevail, and we will get the quality of the Pagdandiya tracks back...until such time, I have definitely taken a break! No regrets...TB gave me august company!😁

Hi DocD, yeah it means Prayer. I also like your username 😃

I agree. This show was progressive and despite the views I still feel it’s on underrated side because many people misunderstood the show and Zoya’s character and tuned it out, when they should’ve given the show a chance. I do wish, as you said, they showed some romance between the two but I don’t think the point of the show was ever to be about lovey dubey-ness. It was about family dynamics.

And yeah I’m a fan of Imlie. I really enjoy the show and right now so much is being revealed too 😕 I hope it gets more positive soon.. seeing Imlie get hit hard by Anu was so heartbreaking.

Hiya Azaan! 🤗

Happy to know that you liked my username, Thank you!🙏

It is actually the brainchild of my friend who I met on IF, and who is now one of my dearest friends...

Totally agree with you when you say that the show is underrated...but, I guess that was expected, since it broke stereotypes at so many levels...from the female lead characterisation, to the chilled-out family dynamic, to the male lead being progressive in his thinking, etc.

I am at least happy that the drama is a hit...the first step that is required, for content such as these...

At least it will pave the way, for makers to put together refreshing content, with the channel making profits as well.

As for the Zoya-Zain dynamic, this, IMO, will be the only lacuna of an otherwise exceptional series...all I wanted to see was Zoya’s side of the “Tanaa Banaa” with regards Zain...it need not have been romance at all...just simple gestures, to show a character arc of the Zoya who understood Zain’s unconditional part of the nibhana...a simple (out of many examples) of that being, Zain trying to sleep with the lights left on (what a beautiful scene that was, in one of the earlier episodes)...simple things that she could have done....for instance, by not overreacting to the car fiasco episode...I mean, the guy was actually serenading her in the garden to win her back, and she stretched it for 12 days!!

The obvious question that then comes to mind is that the flashpoint of Zain being thrown out of the house would not have happened...but for me, it would have been far more believable if things were improving from Zoya’s side wrt Zain...Billoo inadvertently blurting out the car episode...Zoya trying to underplay and explain things to Fauzia...and, Fauzia, true to her nature, overreacting to the whole episode and cornering Zain, along with the family, and then him bursting out in the manner that he did! Completely believable right, with regards character development...

Instead, what do we get...Zoya throwing tantrums, yet, asking Zain for the tution fees, and then going to Abbu, when Zain gave her a taste of her own medicine!

Hence, I feel, that Zoya’s statement in the last episode, was only some respite, since it brilliantly explains her indifference, post Zain moving to his in-laws, but not her high-handedness towards Zain before that...in the latter part of the drama.

For me, an ardent follower of the drama, this is why I feel that it’s a case of half-baked writing for Zoya versus Zain’s character arc coming full circle, both with regards to his own growth as well as his dynamic with Zoya and the family...

Sorry for the long reply, put clearly, as you would have understood, TB is extremely close to my heart, and therefore, the in-depth analysis!😀

But all said and done, TB will always remain an absolute favourite of mine, and in the romantic genre, second only to ZGH, for me, although I really love Alif, Ranjha Ranjha Kardi and Do Bol, as well.

With regards Imlie, as I told you, I used to really like the show, especially the PD tracks and the leads’ chemistry. ST and GM are ace actors, and have added so much to their roles. The Anu nonsense was just too much for me to take...yes, as you rightly said, they have revealed a lot...hopefully, the coming weeks should get better.

Talk to you soon, my Dear...

Much love,

DocD

Hey DocD :)) back finally, insane stuff happening in my city in general, vaccine mismanagement and now a cyclone lol and in the midst of some work which seemed never ending, finally found some time to catch up on Tana Bana

Ok first the complaints - I totally agree with you that Zoya's character was half baked, and they wrapped up her confession quite quickly🤓 and where is that beach scene where Zain is suited up and Zoya and Zain were dancing together😳smiley22smiley22smiley22 I couldnt understand why the show shifted from Zoya's tough exterior towards Zain to Zain's conflict with his family? The primary reason for Zain's anger towards his family was because of Zoya's indifference towards him, and it was displaced anger.

Anyway leaving that flaw aside, there were many progressive points in the show - Shahid Fufa was never shamed for being a house husband and ghar jamaai, Zoya was able to pursue her education and passion, Zain continued to work outside his family business, Fauzia became softer and more accomodating, Zebi understood Fauzia's problems and how she takes care of all the household chores, Furqan sahab seemed quite chill in general. Dadi and Billu were the OGs..the wisest characters in the family😎😛

I feel like Daniyal is the breakout star of the show, along with Javeria Abbasi. Both gave strong performances. Alizeh looked super cute and pretty in the new haircut..but I feel the writing let her down. But I wouldnt mind seeing these two paired up again :))

In general a nice light hearted show to watch, with a neatly wrapped up finale <3 Looking forward to seeing more of Daniyal :)))

Hey FL!! *HUGSSS* glad you could make it, my Dear!

The cyclone is bad, indeed...I live in Bombay...the day was terrible today, what with the gusty winds and downpour...in fact, there was lightning in broad daylight today!!

Hope you’ve managed to get yourself a vaccine slot...even if it’s delayed, do keep at it...the vaccine is the only defence we have, really...

Coming to TB, I sure was waiting to hear from you...especially, since there were quite a few episodes, where I missed your analyses! :)

You have summed up the show so well, both it’s positives as well as the gaps...loved going down the TB memory lane along with you!🤗

You are absolutely right about Zoya only being partially redeemed in the last epi...that clarification having been put almost like an afterthought, I felt!

In fact, will even go to the extent of saying that if they had got Zoya’s character development right, which would obviously include the appropriate flow of the Zoya-Zain dynamic, TB could have been the new-age ZGH!!

I too was looking forward to seeing the beach scene where Zain was serenading Zoya, that was shown in the lyrical OST...they looked absolutely divine in it! :)

Guess they would have edited it out...just as they did another scene from the lyrical OST, when Zain was wiping his hands with Zoya’s dupatta in the kitchen!😂

Hum TV should release them as highlights or something of that sort, na...

Loved the points that you pointed out to bring out the progressive outlook of the show...this was one genuinely good family...no politics, no negativity! But were completely believable, too, in their dynamic...khatta meetha to be precise!😇

Your comment on Dadi and Billoo being the OGs of this family is ROFL...couldn’t agree more! I even liked Zoya’s mom’s character a lot...she could have been used much more effectively...she got Zain really well, and could also cut Zoya to size! Sadly, a missed opportunity! :(

As you rightly said, Javeria was very good...she seems to be a seasoned actress...her role was very well fleshed out, and she did complete justice to it!👌

My love and fondness for Danyal, you already know! 🤩 After eons, have liked an actor so much...and to think, the guy is so young!!!

In fact, I liked Alizeh also a lot...she added a lot to Zoya...subtleties, even when Zoya was downright irritating!! And to think that she understands the nuances of acting at such a young age...I mean, she is even younger than Danyal, I think...

So glad that you mentioned her chic hairdo....it looks really good on her, and went with her progressive characterisation as well!👍 Loved those scenes where she wore that one-sided clip...suited her, a lot.

As you rightly said, waiting to see a lot more of Danyal, and definitely Danyal-Alizeh, as well! :)))

You take care, FL

Love,

DocD

Hey! Good to know that you’re a media student!👍

Do thank Mr. Hassaan Imam on our behalf for penning such refreshing and progressive content, and let him know our love for the drama, as well as to the entire cast and crew of Tanaa Banaa

You can tell him that almost all of us on IF (who followed Tanaa Banaa) felt that although Zain was a well-fleshed out character, Zoya was not as much, so....you can go through the posts on this thread...all of us have done a lot of in-depth analysis, highlighting both the positives as well as the flaws in the writing of the drama. You should find it useful, for your interview.

You can also let Mr. Imam know that most people (at least my friends and family, here in India, who watched TB along with me, but are not on IF) have similar views on TB.

Would have loved to come along and support you, but sadly am not on SM.

You can share the interview on IF, if that’s possible.

All the best and have a blast! :)

TB rocks, and you can let Mr. Imam know that!😊

Cheers!
