I have also had issues in him talking to Pakhi over the phone. My issues were not because I doubted Virat's intentions. Virat did not stay in touch with Pakhi to lead her on.
Pakhi expressed that she loved Virat only on the night, she got married. It was when the reality actually sinked in her and it was when Virat also had got time to think that he had actually lost her.
Even while speaking to Pakhi, he had asked her how she is able to call him and where Samrat was. He respected the relationship of Pakhi and his brother. That was the only night did she speak to Virat about his love.
Virat could have avoided her call, but that would also mean that he is insulting her because they have had a past. Him ignoring her calls could be misunderstood by a girl, she could think that the guy is not trusting her and that is why, he is ignoring her calls. He didn't want to insult her, it would look as if her character was questioned by him.
Virat genuinely felt bad for Pakhi since Samrat had to leave and also with the information that Samrat might have come to know about him and Pakhi. The calls were not taken to lead her on, but it was taken to give support to a person whom he had promised, to remain as a friend.
Virat calls up Sunny when he is upset because Sunny can understand him and his pain, hence Virat knows that in the position Pakhi was, she wouldn't be able to share her pain or people might not understand her and so he supported her as how any friend would do by letting her share her pain and sorrow. He couldn't understand what she was implying or what her motives were.
I do agree that he could have avoided it, but he was also worried about her, could be worried as what if she takes any rash decision because she lost the love of her life and because her husband had also left her.
Whatever feelings Virat had for Pakhi, was only buried within him, he didn't keep thinking about her, he didn't entertain any thoughts which even came up without his own knowledge, he didn't speak about it to anyone, never ever gave hints of his buried feelings to Pakhi too.
Whatever feelings he had for Pakhi was buried deep within him and he tried as much as he could, to never let it surface and to respect the relationship he shared with her, saw her and treated her as a friend and his brother's wife.
His vaada is problematic, he should start building walls and not lines between him and Pakhi, we have to see how the story unfolds. His guilt canmot always drive his actions, he has to understand that it was Pakhi's decision to marry Samrat and that he did not force her to get married. The day, he frees himself from this guilt, he will understand that there is no necessity for him to support Pakhi when there are so many others in her life to support her.
Some people will only learn through their mistakes, he is going to pay a big price for his actions.
But that cannot change the fact that he has very recently come to know clearly of what is disturbing Pakhi. He seems to have been denying that she could be pursuing him. Looks like he felt that he would be insulting her by doubting her intentions. Now that they are no more doubts, he has started to act more conscious.
He has always tried to maintain distance from her even in the past, not that he is doing anyone any favour, I am saying that he did what was expected out of him. He never thought of her or looked at her in an inappropriate manner. He has asked her not to question him when he his with his wife (after returning from.Naag Nadi), not to wait for him, has stopped her from feeding him and even moved away from her maintaining a distance, has always spoken only about Sai even when the two were alone, was lost in Sai's thoughts, even when she tried to check him in the pretext of being a caring friend.
He has made mistakes by staying silent once when Pakhi was speaking ill about Sai after the Amay's incident, by not fighting with her as much as he should have during many times, but we also cannot ignore that he doesn't do that with his family members too. It has got to do with his nature and not because he feels anything for Pakhi.
Even if I have said he should have handled things better when it comes to Pakhi, be more strict and stern with Pakhi, we cannot deny that he has fought against Pakhi many times supporting Sai and has asked her why should she be behaving with Sai in an unfair manner
- while returning from Usha Maushis room taking Sai back to his room
- at Pakhi's house while trying to call her back
- the day when he took Sai for her college admission
- that same evening by saying people will have to accept husband and wife's relationship and understand that thry can spend time with each other
- on the first day of college
- the day he had asked Pakhi why she had to taunt Sai about not be able to grind chillies when Pakhi herself cannot do
- that same morning when Kaku snatched Sai's food too he had fought with Pakhi for Sai
- on the day of Mohit's lunch issue
- on the day they were leaving to Ladakh
- on the day when Sai had returned from PD's house and when Sai and Virat were having food
- on Mahashivratri day
- by supporting Sai when Pakhi wanted to speak to Virat alone and while Pakhi was blaming Sai after Pulkit visited their house
- supporting Sai on the day they spoke near the jhoola
- spoke her to respect his and Sai' s relationship on the day of holi
His approach to stop Pakhi or to correct Pakhi might not be as how it could be, doesn't mean he has any feelings for Pakhi or that he is cheating Sai in anyway. Neither is he betraying Sai, nor is he betraying his brother.
