Lol it's not of any sort of obsession. I simply wanted to know what major romantic films have a sad, yet upbeat ending where the couple remains alive but not together......since alot of sad endings where the characters die are successful but they are tragic films not upbeat films.

I recently watched Roman Holiday, where the romantic couple has to leave each other and go their own ways......it's a sad ending, yet upbeat and was a very successful film (ofen called a classic). So i was wondering if we had any successful/classic films in bollywood as well.

Yes exactly I told you, we have Mughl-e-Azam (the old one). Both Emperor Salim and Anarkali live and yet the movie has a sad ending, and not to mention it was the 2nd biggest grosser in Indian cinema history.😳

Chandni Bar? I think

And Kaagaz Ke Phool had a pretty depressing ending. I'm not sure if it was a hit though

If you think of it, Page 3 also fits in this category. I mean, nothing horrible happens, but Konkona Sen isn't able to take real society after trying it out, and she resorts back to her world of page 3 glamour. It's pretty sad

I mentioned Mughal-e-Azam in my first post, as it's the only one that came to my mind😊
