dharam did what he thought was right in that circumstance.sometimes u just cant go against your wishes or behaviour its just not easy or u can say its not easy for any normal human being BUT if a person is MENTALLY STRONG only then he or she can go against his or her behaviour....dharam will be a great king no doubt about that like maryadapurshotam ramji who accepted vanvaas for his father's maan samaan...but if u are comparing veer with him then u are wrong here because veer is like KRISHNA in hindi we call krishna SAMPURN(complete)who has 16 qualities and ramji has (i think ) 10 to 12 qualities........
yes i think dharam was right in his decision because he cant behave like or u can say he can never be LIKE VEER its imposible for DHARAM
