Also, right now there is no government in West Bengal as the new govt is yet to be sworn in. It is under Governor's rule, which means it is under Centre's control.
Don't be foolish enough to think that the PM does not have the power to stop this. He does, he can stop it right now, but he doesn't want to. Because this is a good escape from the constant attention on the covid management failure of the govt, especially after the drubbing he received from international media for it. He very much needs a respite from all that, so what even if it comes at the cost of his own party workers' lives!
