Part 4

It was now more than two weeks now that Virat slept in the car and Sai slept near her window. If he was in pain then she was not in pleasure.

Daily Sai made breakfast and lunch for Virat and he brought food from his home for her, sometimes they have dinner at their respective places and sometimes Sai accompanies him to his car giving any random excuse.

The bond they were sharing now was priceless. Aai was right; they started their relationship fresh. Sharing their whereabouts, Sai sometimes shared about her college happenings and Virat used to tell about his cases.

One day Sai had a migraine attack so, Virat came inside, fed her food and massaged her head, she resisted for a bit but Virat didn’t listen to her and massaged her head. He also gave her the medicine, Sai was shocked to know that Virat kept spare medicine for her migraine with himself. He left the room after tucking her to bed.

These were the things that were melting Sai and making a prominent place for Virat in her heart.

One day Virat came to Sai and told ‘Sai main kal ek mission pe ja raha hu.’

Sai asked ‘Kab tak ayenge? Or konsa mission?’

Virat smiled because now she has started asking his whereabouts without any hesitation. ‘Mission toh nahi bata sakta Sai par ek hafta toh lagega hi.’

Sai asked worried ‘Koi khatre vali baat toh nahi hai na?’

Virat kept quiet for a few seconds before faking a smile ‘Nahi nahi. Kuch nahi hai.’

Sai read his eyes, Virat avoided her gaze and spoke ‘Chalo college chod du tumhe.’

Sai nodded.

The whole day Sai was a bit worried for him. She asked Aai but she also didn’t know anything about the mission he was going to.

Virat reached home and changed into his clothes. He went to Aai and spoke ‘Aai khana.’

Ashwini spoke ‘Khana nahi banaya maine aaj kyuki Sai ne mana kiya tha.’

Virat was surprised ‘Kyu?’ Aswhini replied ‘Pata nahi’

Virat insisted on giving but Ashwini denied. So, he went from there.

Virat drove to her house and rang her door’s bell. Sai opened the door and before she could say anything

Virat asked ‘Sai tumne aaj khana dene ko mana kyu kia aai ko?’

Sai replied ‘Kyunki aap andar aiye.’ and she pulled him inside.

‘Baithiye yaha please’ she made him sit on the bed and brought dinner for them.

‘Sai kya kar rahi ho? Or khane ke liye mana kyu kia?’ Virat asked, still not getting anything.

‘Kyuki aaj khana maine banaya hai hum dono ke liye.’ Sai spoke.

After bringing everything she too sat with him.

‘Yeh sab kyu Sai?’ Virat asked.

Sai spoke ‘Kyu toh main bhi nahi janti. Lekin itna janti hu ki kal aap mission pe ja rahe ho sabse dur toh main nahi chahti ki aaj bhi khana akele khao. Or aaj aap please yahi so jana aram se comfortable hoke.’

Virat was surprised he didn’t expect this from her ‘Sai iski zarurat nahi hai. Main car mein hi so jaunga.’

Sai spoke ‘Dekhiye ya toh apne ghar jake soiye nahi toh yaha soiye, car mein nahi sone dungi main apko.’

Virat spoke instantly ‘toh main yaha sounga.’ and gave a sheepish smile.

Sai smiled at his cuteness.

They had their dinner while chatting about these things.

‘Thik hai toh aap so jaiye please. Main jab tak baki kam khatam kar leti hu.’ Sai spoke when they were done with dinner.

Virat spoke ‘ha toh main help karta hu na’

Sai replied ‘Nahi uski zarurat nahi hai. Main karti hu aap please relax karo.’

Virat spoke ‘Nahi. I will help you. Final’

Sai gave in and spoke ‘Thik hai.’ She went to the basin and started applying soap to the dishes. Virat helped her wash them.

There was a peaceful silence between them till the time Virat decided to break it ‘Sai..’

Sai replied ‘Ha.’ Virat asked ‘Will you miss me?’

Sai was quiet for a second but then spoke ‘Why will I miss you?’

Virat was a bit hurt but didn’t let her know ‘Chalo koi baat nahi. Ab hafta bhar tumhe meri shakal nahi dekhni padegi, bahut irritate karta hu na main tumhe.’

Sai blurted ‘Nahi. Itna bhi irritate nahi karte aap mujhe.’

Virat’s eyes glistened ‘Sachi?’

Sai Stammered ‘umm. Mer.. Mera woh matlab nahi tha. Aap chup chap kam kijiye.’

Virat smiled. Sai too smiled when Virat was not looking at her.

The rest of the time went in peace.

As it was a single bed so Virat offered to sleep on the floor but Sai asked him to take the bed.

‘Sai mere hote hue tum zameen pe soyo not fair.’ Virat spoke.

Sai lied to him ‘Main hamesha bed par hi toh soti hu na. And please so jaiye ab apko jadi uthna hoga na kal.’

Virat tried to speak ‘Sai..’ only to be cut by Sai ‘Ek kam kariye ghar jaiye apne aap. Yaha sona hi nahi hai.’

Virat spoke ‘Are tum toh gussa ho gayi. So raha hu na main yahi.’

Sai spoke ‘good boy’

Virat finally took the bed and within minutes he drifted off to sleep.

Sai too slept, setting an alarm for early morning.

Before, Virat Sai got up and prepared a light breakfast and tea for him. By the time Virat woke up Sai was done with tea and sandwiches.

‘Sai itni subah kya kar rahi ho kitchen mein’ Virat spoke, rubbing his eyes and taking a clear view of his beautiful wife.

Sai replied ‘JAldi se fresh ho jaiye. Late ho jayenge varna.’ he did as she said.

She brought the sandwiches and tea to the table. Virat came and saw this ‘Sai itni subah yeh sab kyu?’

Sai spoke ‘Chup chap thoda thoda kha lijiye. Jaldi se.’

Virat tried to speak ‘Sai nahi thi zarurat.’

Sai took one sandwich and stuffed it in his mouth, Virat was surprised. He enjoyed every bit of it because somewhere he knew this maybe the last meal with her.

Sai saw him lost so snapped fingers in front of him ‘Kya hua? Kaha kho gaye aap?’

Virat blurted absentmindedly ‘Soch raha hu ki yeh kahi akhri breakfast na ho hamara.’

Sai was shocked ‘Kya?’ Virat came to his senses and tried to cover up ‘Are kuch nahi. Or vaise bhi akhri bhi hua toh tumhe kya tumhara picha toh chutega mujhse.’ he tried to joke

Sai was angry ‘Bakwas karne ke alava kuch nahi ata na apko? Subah subah itni manhus batein kyu kar rahe hai?’

Virat spoke ‘Nahi karunga agar tum baki sandwhich bhi khilaogi toh.’ Sai fed him the full sandwhich and just said one thing ‘Virat sir I know ki aap kuch nahi bata sakte mission ke bare mein lekin promise kariye ki vapis ayenge’

Virat looked at her with shock. He tried a lot to hide but she got a hint that she understood that this mission was dangerous. ‘Sai..’

‘Sirf promise or kuch nahi.’ Sai spoke.

Virat replied taking a sigh ‘Aunga. Tumhare liye.’ Sai’s face lightened up ‘Thankyou Virat sir’ Sai spoke.

Finally it was time to bid goodbye. ‘Sai main sidha ghar se niklunga. Please apna dhyan rakhna or kuch bhi ho toh Mohit ko ya Pulkit jiju ko call kar lena or zada kuch dikat ho toh DIG sir ka number hai hi tumhare paas.’

Sai too spoke ‘Aap bhi apna dhyan rakhna or jaldi ana.’

Virat was about to leave but turned and kissed her forehead and took her in his arms, Sai too reciprocated. ‘Please jaldi ana or dhyan rakhna.’ she spoke tightening the hug.

Virat spoke ‘PAka aunga or tum bhi dhyan rakhna.’

He left from there leaving a sad and worried Sai behind.

It was the fifth day that Virat left. Everything was feeling very much colourless and sad to Sai. She was like a robot waking up, attending college then returning back and studying was her new routine.

Ashwini used to send food through Mohit though Sai told her not to but being her mother she wasn't obliged to her.

She was sitting in her class when she got a call from Mohit. These whole five days she was very tense for Virat and this particular day she was feeling very restless. Usually she is not the one to ignore classes but today she ran out of the class and picked up the call. What she heard on the phone changed her world in one second.’

‘Vahini Virat dada ko goli lagi hai’

For once the world stopped for her, everything got numb. Mohit’s continuous calling of her name brought her back to her senses. Tears started falling down her eyes.

‘MAin aapko lene aa raha hu Vahini bahar aa jaiye college ki.’ Mohit spoke.

She ran towards the college’s main door and waited for Mohit. Every second felt like an hour, all bad scenarios came to her mind. She constantly prayed to Bappa to keep her husband safe.

Finally Mohit came and she sat inside. Mohit saw her state and stayed strong ‘Vahini aap please thoda shant ho jaiye dada thik ho jayenge.’

Sai spoke ‘Kaise shant ho jau Mohit? Virat sir ko goli lagi hai. Unhe kuch ho gaya toh? Nahi nahi unhone vaada kia tha ki vo vapis ayenge. Kuch nahi hoga unhe.’

Mohit never saw her Vahini this weak he spoke ‘Ha Vahini vo thik honge. Please aap khud ko sambhaliye.’

She nodded and prayed to Almighty for her husband’s safety.

They finally reached the hospital. Sai straight away went to her aai and asked ‘Kya kaha doctor ne? Thik hai na vo’

Aai was crying 'Sai. Vo.. Vo.. Uska operation chal raha hai'

Sai hugged her and spoke 'sab thik hoga Aai. Virat sir ne mujhe promise kia tha ki woh sahi salamat ayenge. Kuch nahi hoga unhe'

Sai consoled Ashwini and took care of her. Mohit was amazed that the girl in front of him was crying so much and was now consoling Ashwini Kaku. He smiled at her Sai Vahini.

For once Kaku & Gang and Pakhi kept quiet.

After an hour or two of operation the doctor came out.

Everyone surrounded him 'vo kaise hai ab? '

Doctor replied 'ab vo thik hai. Lekin behosh hai. Kuch ghanto tak hosh ayega unhe'

Mohit spoke when doctor left 'aap sab ghar jaiye main yaha rukta hu'

Sai spoke folding her hands in front of him 'please mohit mujhe rukne do yaha please'

Mohit spoke 'aap aise Request kyu kar rahi hai Vahini. Rukiye na aap. Main toh sabki suhuliat ke liye keh raha tha'

Sai spoke wiping her tears 'main dhyan rakhungi pura. Pakka'

Ashwini spoke caressing her head 'bada Tu Ruk ja or kuch bhi dikat ho toh call kar dio mujhe ya Mohit ko kisi ko bhi'

Sai spoke 'ha aai' she hugged her for the last time and they left for CN.

Sai waited for doctors to shift him in the other room as now he was out of danger.

After waiting for like ages she got to meet him, she sat with him and spoke ‘Virat Sir. Jaldi se thik ho jao phir chalenge hum ghar please.’

Soon Sai drifted off to sleep due to exertion, she woke up hearing her name.

Virat took Sai’s name as he gained consciousness, Sai was overwhelmed that he took her name first.

‘Virat sir main yahi hu’ she held his hand and gave it a light squeeze.

He smiled through his pain seeing her face ‘Tum thik ho na?’

Sai was surprised ‘Aap hospital mein ho Virat sir main nahi. Aap kaise ho?’

Virat spoke ‘Tumhe dekh lia thik hu main ab.’ Sai blushed hearing that.

She soon called the doctors and they came and checked him.

‘Aap 2-3 din mein inhe yaha se le ja sakte hai. Lekin dhyan rahe ki kuch time yeh stress se dur rahe, Kaam par bhi na jaye or comfortable rahe bilkul.’ Doctor informed Sai.

Sai replied ‘ji doctor main pura dhyan rakhungi inka’

Doctor left and she again went to him and sat with him ‘Aapne promise kia tha aap vapis sahi Salamat ayenge’

Virat replied ‘Ha toh. Zinda toh hu promise toh tab tutta na jab main mar..’

Sai kept her hand on his mouth ‘Chup. Bilkul chup. Main sachi bata rahi hu Virat sir agar apne yeh sab batein zindagi mein kabhi bhi ki na main apse kabhi baat nahi karungi’ she sobbed like a kid which melted his heart.

He placed a soft kiss on her hand before speaking ‘Acha baba nahi karunga. Par tum bhi mujhe maaf kardo na ab please Sai.’

Sai spoke ‘Kar dia maaf. Kab se hi kar dia’ Tears didn’t stop.

Virat called her to the other side where the wound was not there and pulled her softly to his chest.

She half lied on the bed and kept her head lightly on his chest ‘Apko pata hai main kitna dar gayi thi. Apne kyu kia aisa. Kuch ho jata toh? Socha hai mera kya hota phir?’ She complained in between her sobs.

Virat kissed her forehead and caressed her head ‘Acha na. sorry. Or aise kaise kuch ho jata mujhe? Meri Jhansi ki rani ke hote hue mujhe kabhi kuch nahi ho sakta.’

She smiled and spoke ‘Main hone bhi nahi dungi kuch. Ek bar Aaba ko kho chuki hu par agar baat ab aap par aayi toh main lad jaungi Bappa se sach bata rahi hu main. Mujhe kabhi chodne ki mat sochna Virat sir main kasam se sab kuch khatam kar dungi. Main bata rahi hu, dhyan rakho apna. Varna..’

‘Are bhayi itna gussa. Nahi Jaunga main tumhe chod ke.’ Virat spoke comforting her and consoling.

‘Thik hai’ she cried some more.

‘Ek baat hai ek sherni ko uska Sher hi sambhal sakta hai.’

They both got startled as they heard Mohit’s voice and saw Ashwini, Mohit, Pakhi, Bhawani, Ninad standing near the door. Some have expressions of happiness and some were disgusted to see them like that.

Sai got up and stood near him while Ashwini came and caressed Virat’s hair ‘Godu tu thik hai na?’

He took his AAi’s hand and kissed it ‘Ha aai main bilkul thik hu.’

Pakhi as usual taunted ‘Sai Virat ko chot lagi hai or tum usi par weight dal rahi ho, thoda toh khayal rakho.’

Sai rolled her eyes on this comment and spoke ‘PAkhi didi aap kyu itni tension le rahi hai MERE PATI ki. Mera weight Virat sir sehen kar lenge aapko chinta karne ki bilkul zarurat nahi hai. Main or aai hai us kaam ke liye.’

Pakhi spoke ‘Sai mujhse aise baat mat karo or main sirf dost hone ke naate keh rahi thi.’

Sai retorted back ‘Or main ek biwi hone ke naate keh rahi hu. Zameen asman ka farq hai in do rishto mein toh yaad rakhna hamesha.’

Virat-Ashwini-Mohit exchanged surprised looks. Virat was very happy to see her wife in charge and Ashwini was happy to see her Sai back as Virat’s wife.

PAkhi spoke ‘tumm.’

Virat spoke, intervening their convo ‘Pakhi main thik hu. Please tum ainda ab mat ana yaha. Sai comfortable nahi hai and honestly main bhi nahi hu.’

PAkhi was again shocked. Bhawani spoke this time ‘Virat tum thik ho?’

Virat replied ‘Ji kaku.’

‘Kab tak chuti milegi tujhe?’ She inquired.

Sai spoke this time ‘2-3 din mein milegi chuti Kaku. Doctor ne bataya aaj.’

She reacted normally and spoke ‘Thik hai. Toh hum tyari karenge ghar pe.’

Virat spoke ‘Main vaha nahi aunga Kaku. Main Sai ke saath jaunga.’

Sai was shocked ‘Virat sir main chalungi na apke sath, apko mere vaha chalne ki zarurat nahi hai. Comfortable bhi nahi hoge aap.’

Virat spoke ‘Sai main nahi chahta ki tum ghar aao, inme se koi tumhari respect nahi karta or jaha tumhari respect nahi vaha main nahi rukunga.’ he turned to Ashwini and spoke ‘Aai koi dikat toh nahi hai na main Sai ke sath ruku toh?’

Ashwini spoke ‘Nahi bada. Mujhe pata hai Sai tera pura dhyan rakhegi.’

Bhavani spoke ‘Virat ghar chal hum mein se koi Sai ko kuch nahi kahega.’

Sai too spoke ‘Ha Virat sir. ghar pe rahoge toh jaldi thik hoge phir main toh hu hi.’

Before Virat could speak Pakhi taunted Sai ‘Vaise bhi itne din ki chute yeh kyu legi apne college se.’

Mohit murmured ‘Yeh phir sunengi’ Ashwini chuckled hearing that making Virat smile.

‘Pakhi di apko bhi na samajh nahi ati baat ek baar mein aapko. Kaha na main patni hu sab sambhal lungi, chuti lungi ya nahi lungi vo hamari problem hai apko apni energy waste karne ki zarurat nahi hai.’ Sai gave her back and turned to Virat.

‘Virat sir maine kaha na hum vahi challenge. Main sach mein thik hu ab’ Sai spoke assuring Virat.

Virat finally agreed to her. ‘Acha tum abhi jao fresh hoke ao or thoda rest bhi karke ao.’

Sai spoke ‘Main thik hu kahi nahi ja rahi main.’

Ashwini spoke ‘Virat sahi keh raha hai bada. Tu ja or thoda aram kar main hu tab tak yaha.’

Mohit too spoke ‘Ha vahini raat bhar se aap yahi hu.’

Sai was about to deny but all three of them showed her angry eyes and she agreed.

She caressed Virat’s head and spoke ‘Dhyan rakhna apna. Main yu gayi or yu aayi.’

Virat replied ‘Nahi jaldi ane ki zarurat nahi hai. Aram karke phir ana.’

Sai spoke ‘Dekhte hai’ and she left with Sai.

Everyone else too left Ashwini and Virat alone.

‘Godu thik hai na tu?’ tears welled up in her eyes.

Virat wiped her tears ‘ha aai. Aap please royo nahi na please.’

Ashwini spoke ‘Pata hai kitna dar gaye the hum?’ Virat just said ‘Kya karta aai end moment pe us terrorist ne goli mari. Par ab main thik hu.’

Ashwini spoke wiping her tears ‘Thik hi reh tu bas. Or main khush hu ki Sai ne bhi tujhe maaf kar dia.’

Virat replied ‘Ha aai.’

After a few minutes his breakfast came which was a soup so Ashwini fed him and took care of him.
