So, in terms of similarities, this is what I've noticed:
Raavi and Mulla both were angry at their husbands. In some ways, you could even say it was an irrational form of anger that they showed only to their spouse and to no one else. Both of them used words such as "uneducated, dirty, uncouth" to describe their spouses, and their spouses reacted negatively hearing these words. They also easily forgave the Dhara character.
In terms of differences, this is what I've noticed:
Kathir is a silent angry while Shiva is a lot more expressive and forthcoming with his anger. Both of them would do anything for their families, but Shiva appears to have a touch of innocence to him (he's probably younger than Kathir as he is only 21-23 max). Kathir always seemed mature to me, far more mature for his age even. But Shiva always appeared like a wandering boy trying to hold onto what he knew best (which in this case is his family). Raavi is a lot more bubbly/airheaded of a character while Mulla was a little bit rougher on the edges in terms of personality.
My thoughts of the possible breakdown:
I personally don't think it's coming. The past few episodes have been a lot of hot/cold/hot/cold. Some days the tension is high, and some days, it seems like ShiVi is back to business as usual. Also, I agree with many of the points you all have made prior, why would Shiva break down if Maami has been taunting him with those things all along? It wouldn't be new for him to hear, especially now.
In the original, it wasn't Maami's words. It was Raavi's words that caused the breakdown. He felt suffocated in a marriage where his wife didn't even see him as a person (kept calling him "uneducated, dirty, uncouth"). Now, in this version, Raavi's anger seems to be fluctuating. In some ways, it seems inconsistent (when I compare her to Mulla), and in some ways it seems totally consistent (especially when looking at her character separate from Mulla). Raavi in this version seems way to bubbly and airheaded to really cause enough damage for a breakdown...
Another argument against the breakdown is that Shiva is pretty upcoming about his anger. He lets out his anger in short bursts, so he never really has the chance/time to burst. Those names do seem to be affecting him, but I also think his actions in later scenes pretty much are a way for him to release his anger. So it would be awkward if he just up and up became affected by someone's words.
What could cause the turning point in ShiVi's relationship?
I'm thinking more and more that ShiVi will be stuck in some sort of dangerous position (maybe get stranded alone while coming back to Somnath), and in that trip, Raavi and Shiva fight. Raavi refuses to listen to Shiva, and that is when in frustration, he reveals the whole truth in anger/bitterness.
But, I guess this bonfire + Maami's arrival will give us more insight on what's to come.
Thank you, Avi!
Them getting stuck somewhere alone would be the key. Shiva, is way more sorted. Plus, Raavi and him call each other all sorts of names. I'm getting a picture of how Mulla and Khathir were compared to our ShiVi.
They might have some similarities as it is a remake but otherwise, there is nothing common. Raavi's anger is not as crazy. You are right, she oscillates. Plus, in this version, I see that both aren't registering the marriage. They know they are married, they both didn't want divorce but they really aren't recognizing the husband-wife relationship. Both need to be put in a situation where they are forced to rely on each other.
These two do know each other but their hatred/bickering overshadows it. Plus, Mami's fear is Raavi alone with Shiva. Guess what her fears comes to pass 😆
This is what it feels like to me!!
