VD has not accepted that his son Mandar is dead, hence he is struggling to accept the fact that Pallavi is single and she has right to move on with someone else. He is not tying her to widowhood but to her marriage, for him she is still his son's wife. When RR announced that he and Pallavi had a physical relationship, VD felt that she is cheating on his son.

When I first was MHRW trailer I was instantly reminded of Marathi film 'Kaksparsh' (translation: crow's touch, in Hinduism, final rites of a dead person is completed only when crows touch the food offered in the memory of the dead). There too the FL was widowed on her first night. She then falls for her dead husband's elder brother.

This VD is also blaming himself for Mandar's death. So it's hard for VD to believe his death. This Sanki Buddha is making all of us Sanki
