First of all, major jhappis to you Jean!!!! 🤗
I can't express how happy reading your analysis has made me. Sach mein, PB ke din yaad aa gaye.
Coming to the episode, here are my views:
Speaking the same language:
Episodes ago, Pallavi had told Raghav that she treats people like a mirror. If they're kind to her, she'll be kind to them. If they're cruel and nasty to her, then she'll be the same. Raghav told Farhad the same; that he's speaking to Pallavi using the same language that she used. Though it is his misunderstanding, he believes Pallavi to have falsely accused his mother and sister of prostitution and sent them to jail for it. They are ridiculed by society and their daily lives has become extremely difficult. Raghav did the exact same thing to her. In the eyes of her family, and the neighborhood, he implied Pallavi was prostituting herself for money. However, he left out one important element in this exchange - he didn't send her to jail for it.
Today, Pallavi responded back to him using his language - business tactics. He had given her the money believing she would honor the deal and leave Hyderabad. It was a naive assumption on his part which still says a lot about what Raghav thinks of Pallavi. Despite all the nasty thoughts he has of her, he still believed that she would be honorable enough to keep her end of the deal. When she didn't, she fell just a little more in his eyes. Pallavi however, doesn't give a damn about what he thinks of her. She only cares about him in the context of him being the storm that had dared to upend her life. Since he is the reason for the destruction, then it's only fair that he should be the one to bring restoration. There was no use in pleading to his reasonablel side. She had tried that on the night he was humiliating her but it was to no effect. If money is the only language he can understand, then that's exactly what she would use to bring down his arrogance.
The same goes with Amma and Raghav. When she came home and dictated all the changes that needed to be made, she saw how enthusiastically Raghav had agreed to everything that she wanted. She saw firsthand the desperation her little boy has to be with his mother and sister again. Yes, it may have been a little cruel of her to lay down a harsh condition in exchange for their stay, but she knows how necessary it is to stop Raghav now before it gets too late. She knows it is possible for her to get her old son back. She had seen him after all at Mansi's wedding functions. But what he had done to Pallavi was absolutely injust. All he had to do was cross a few more lines and not only would he lose his mother and sister forever, but he would lose himself as well. It's why she first showed him the dream of what could be possible - a happy family. All he had to do was shed his anger, and be the man that she could finally be proud of.
Tu Raghav Rao, toh mein teri Amma. - An absolutely apt line. Raghav Rao may believe himself to be a self-made man but that's only in the professional sense. If we're talking about character, then the rigid no nonsense attitude that he carries around, it all came from his mother. Constantly exchanging deals, never bowing down before anyone, holding their head up high and living in pride - again, all from her. He is a very strong reflection of her. If Raghav has a lot of pent up anger, pain, and frustration inside of him, then so does his mother. Whatever the cause may be, losing her life partner and child is no easy. Especially when the blame is lying with one of her own children.
The Marriage Proposal:
I can see Amma's reasoning for wanting RaghVi's marriage. After all the nasty things Raghav did to her, Pallavi refused to back down. Yes, she had her vulnerable moments, but she wasn't going to let them defeat her. Despite all the animosity with her family, Pallavi hasn't shirked away from her duties and is continuing to support them in whatever way she can. Exactly like Raghav does with his Amma and Keerti. The two ladies harbor so much anger for him and have often times refused to even see his face. Yet, he still keeps coming back to be of assistance because that's what real family members do. They stick by each other even though times are rough.
Raghav in his misconception, continues to berate Pallavi, but just like Amma, she doesn't have the time to rectify his mistakes. She has far more pressing matters that need to be attended to.
While Amma may know the truth about Pallavi's marital situation, I don't like the fact that Pallavi's consent wasn't taken into consideration. Sharada may have her own views on women needing a life partner, but it's not necessary that Pallavi also thinks the same. They were both assuming things and believed Pallavi wants the same which is not true. She very well could be happy living on her own as an independent woman. She doesn't need to be tied down in marriage in order to feel fulfilled.
Raghav's motivations for this marriage are set up very clear - wanting his mother and sister back in his life, and living with him. For Pallavi, it's still unclear (although the promo does state she would be using his money to bring him down, I don't see how Raghav would allow her to be anywhere near his wealth. If he doesn't make her sign a nuptial contract, then there's something really wrong going on. 😆)
This marriage, as we all knew, is not one of happiness. It is tainted with bitterness, anger, and hatred. Until the misconceptions aren't cleared from Raghav's side, there is no way this marriage would resemble anything close to being normal. I truly believe that had this misunderstanding not been created, then Raghav would have truly fallen in love with her. He has already mentioned a few times that he had considered Pallavi to not be like rest of the women that he knows. Unfortunately, whatever respect Pallavi had unknowingly created in his mind was destroyed within seconds.
I feel like Raghav's anger towards Pallavi is in two folds: a) she's the reason why Keerti and Amma were falsely accused of prostiution and sent to jail and b) he had let his guard down and believed her to be different. In his mind, reason B led to reason A and that's why his anger is so volatile. Whatever animosity RaghVi had between each other, he hadn't ever thought that she would stoop as low as involving his mother and sister into the matter. That she would at least have the decency to keep things on the same playing field and keep it between them only. And it's because of his naive assumption that his family became casualties and had to suffer so much. He retaliated with equal fire, but rather than understanding his POV, his mother and Keerti sided with Pallavi again and that infuriated him even more. They used to take her side before too and it had irked him then, but he could let those matters go. But this was a matter of their self-respect and dignity. Rather than being furious with Pallavi, they blindly trusted her over him, their own flesh and blood. This has to prick him a lot and instead of trying to understand why they're siding with her, he's just lashing out on Pallavi.
(Btw, this just reminded me of HS' talk with Naeem Bi and Lala after Ashok had demeaned Babita at the courthouse. Jab baat male ego par aa jaati hai, phir andar ka janwar jaag uth tha hai. I feel like, the same is happening here with RaghVi. The more his family is going to side with Pallavi, the more he's going to lash out on her. After all, the warm love and affection that he's been yearning for years, she's getting it without even asking.)
Something I found incredibly amusing was how just the previous day Raghav had given Pallavi a cheque to leave Hyderabad forever. Then, the very next day he was kidnapping her at gunpoint to get married. If I had been Pallavi, I would have started calling Raghav sanki. Aise khulla kaise chod diya. Isse toh kissi pagal khaane mein hona chahiye. 😆
Raghav Rao and his Self-Respect:
I had wanted to talk about this when I first started watching the show but I never got to, so I might as well do it now. It's interesting that he talks about losing his self-respect in regards to marrying Pallavi, but when his MMS was leaked, he hadn't seemed too affected by it. I personally, was highly disturbed by it as he was essentially sexually assaulted but he never addressed it nor saw it as such. Instead, the entire focus had been placed on Amma seeing him negatively and being hospitalized and him becoming angry on Pallavi.
For him to say he would lose his self-respect by marrying Pallavi, I'm thinking of the following:
a) there's no way he wants to be associated with a gold-digger. He would rather die alone than be tied down to a woman who would be willing to sell herself out for money.
b) people have begun to consider Pallavi to be his mistress. If he is to get married, then it would be to a woman of his choice, not one that has been pressured onto him by society's talks. (Log kya kahenge - remember this? 🤣)
c) if his assumptions about Pallavi are proven to be wrong, then the guilt and shame of what he has done to her would eat him alive. Yes, he would be married to her, but he would forever be haunted by the knowledge of why this marriage had happened in the first place. He could spend the rest of his life showering all the love in the world onto her, but it would never be enough to make up for the humiliation she had suffered. And for him to know that she was made to marry her tormentor - that wouldn't sit right with him under the new knowledge.
That scene after Farhad explodes on him is very telling. He is a financially successful man, but emotionally and inwardly he's very broken. He is proud of himself for his various actions, while also very remorseful for others. My question to him would be: do you Raghav Rao, respect yourself with all your successes and all your faults?

Quoted the above portion from your analysis cuz it got cut off and I would like to know if you had something more to add. 😆
It honestly feels so good to speak to you again Jean! I'm so happy we crossed paths again! 🤗
