An episode of all latest Bollywood songs

Why do they always have old songs for all episodes? They can do an episode with songs from last 5 years atleast once. Eventhough old songs are musically best but Its becoming boring. I would like to see contestants singing latest songs. What you folks think?

Their sense of latest is Ajay - Atul. Otherwise everything almost is last century outside aberrations like AR and "Ghar More Pardesiya". They used to do a few newer Judge's songs earlier, but this year that was back to Holi songs from the past.
I would love some Arjit songs, a folk and Qawwali special. But that is me.

Yeah. We heard some bits and pieces of songs from this decade. Folk and Qawwali will be good if they can get it. Literally I was just looking at SMP songs last week and this week almost 1950 and 1960. I doubt even her parents are born In that time period. I guess its same with others as well. I don't understand why they chose that era songs most of the time.

I think we will get to see that in Neha kakkar episode

I feel your pain as an SMP fan, but Idol has used this format for ever. They won't change their formula for one singer. In my opinion they have given her the best choice from what they had. She and Sawai have sung the most out of syllabus songs. Anjali is the one who got a raw deal. She was given poor choices.

His voice suits well for Kishore ji songs. Let's see how overall duet comes out.

Most of the New songs have no meaningful lyrics and mostly they use rhythm built instruments so one man band . Also this new trend of remixes with dhoom dhoom western thrown in as long as you can dance on it when it’s original song had different type of music.

Old songs have meaningful lyrics and during recording time singers and music composer with his/her band playing live music. Can not be compared with new songs hence old songs are evergreen.

How many of new songs will be remembered in let us say 5-10 years where as 50-60 years old song will still be remembered in years to come.

Yeah. I agree. SMP atleast got some of the new age songs compared to others. But I felt like this season has more old songs compared to other seasons I watched.

I agree. But if that's what is going on in industry why to make contestants sing old songs anyway in Bollywood or independent musicians are not making those songs any more. I know this is talent show but I feel they need to have better mix of songs from each generation.
