Dabangg (2010) was not just a regular masala movie, but also a character study of Chulbul Pandey.
When he was a child his father died. His mother married another man, who never considered him as his son. His step-brother always got preference over him in the "family".
Then the events of Dabangg 3 also retconned the narrative, by bringing his first love Khushi, who also died.
Then his mother died too, the only person left whom he cared about in the world.
He tried to mend his relationship with his step-family, but that didn't work out at all.
All things considered, Chulbul Pandey had a very shitty life. Although he still appears to be very happy-go-lucky in nature. That's because he also like most men is a victim of toxic masculinity.
He's messed up inside, but he doesn't wanna show it. He wants to make everyone believe that he's in control of his life, which is not true at all. He became a cop to get a taste of power, since he always felt powerless in front of his step-father.
His actions in the second half of the movie like beating up his brother or hijacking his wedding might appear bad or too much to some people, but it was perfect revenge for him the way he was treated by them all his life.
He was holding grudges against them since childhood because he was always bottling his feelings emotions inside himself. All that anger was certain to come out some day.
Except the super human strength, Chulbul Pandey is a perfect example of how a society expects a man to be like strong, powerful, tough, dominant etc. He's all those things but he also pays a price for it and the movie shows that too.
