Hi guys, hope you all are doing well. I am just starting to have the symptoms of C19 and I am bed ridden kind of, so thought of writing something out of boredom but my mood swings have been so on peak, I have cut copied deleted a lot. This is not what I wanted and it had to be a bit long but I guess, next part. Take care and please stay safe.
Part 1 :
The room was dark, not darker than his life though but dark enough for him to hide from the world, even his silhouette. He was trying to speak for last thirty minutes but words evade his mouth like happiness from his life. Looking from the outside, there was nothing this man lacked, he had the perfect life, only he knew how flawed he and his life both were. He cleared his throat, as if that will help him clear his mind, trying to locate the other person sitting far across on the other side of the bed.
This was difficult, he knew, but this difficult? He had no idea. He just had a huge bickering with his mother, his mother had cried and cursed him like other times, and conveniently he shifted the blame on Pallavi, it's very easy to make excuses and blame the other person..human nature. He remembered her mother's word, he had lied to her, he had lied because he didn't want her to think he was a monstrous womanizer. He sighed, looked straight, his eyes were now accomodated to the dark, after a few seconds he started,
"Amma wants me.." he started going back to clearing his throat.
"Amma wants me to.." he licked his lips
"To apologise?" Pallavi completed, not sure why she was even listening to him at the first place.
"Yes.." he nodded
"I must say, you're quite thick skinned" she chuckled making her way to the window, looking out, his presence was suffocating her. Has it been her house, she would've thrown him out but she was living with Keerti and even though they were warm, she couldn't forget he was the son of the house, the only reason she let him inside her room was on the insistence of Amma, who somehow thought his son was speaking truth. She had heard the argument in pieces and chuckled at how smoothly he had lied to her. The nerve this man had.
"The apology.. that's not why I came" he sighed, biting his lips until they bled.
She kept quiet. What else could he want now.. why was he here, after all this?
"My mother.. she wants me to get married" he said, his voice lowered at the end
Pallavi frowned, what could that possibly had anything to do with her? Is he here to take her permission? Is he actually believing the lie he told her parents, of course not, if anything, he came here to mock her.
"Are you listening?" His voice got her attention, she sighed. How her fist curled up to punch his face.
"Why are you telling me this?" She asked calmly
"You need to know.." he replied
"Why? Have you started believing your lies? Or are you hallucinating?" She asked, offended. As if caught off-guard, he stood up "oh hello, I have no hallucinations, I don't see your ghost, who told you these rubbish things, is it Farhad?" He shouted, much irritated. Pallavi brushed it aside as his nonsense blabbering.
"You think I need to hear it from anyone else? It's written all over your face" She scoffed
"What no! Really?" He asked looking at his face in the mirror.
"It could only be my ghost calling you baby, shona, janu, certainly not me, and ghosts don't exist. So either you are hallucinating or it was a cheap publicity stunt of yours." She said opening the window a bit more to let the air in.
"Anyway, I have no interest in you or your life, Raghav, bold of you to assume I will have any after what you did" she said
"If I wouldn't have done that.. had it been any different" he chuckled, keenly waiting for her response. She shook her head and looked down, ignoring his question as if she didn't hear him. How could she accept her heart did soften for him, she had started forming a different opinion about him, maybe started adoring him. The bitter betrayal memories of last day flashed in front of her.
"Now if you're done inviting me to your wedding, you can leave" she rudely spoke
"You didn't let me complete, Pallavi.." he started, his voice filled with a tone she dreaded.
"My mother wants me to marry you" he said, a sigh at the end of his sentence.
"And?"
"And,I don't let my mother down" He completed
"That's because Raghav.." she turned with rage, her eyes brimming with tears
"She doesn't know the truth..and neither do I" she stormed towards him, her eyes giving up the tears
"Because you lied.. you lied to her.. told her you did all this because you really loved me.. because you were scared of losing me?" She let out a little laugh.
"You told her you were confused about my feelings and wanted to accept me in front of everyone, you said you thought I liked you too.." she said getting down on her knees and crying... "You, lied to her, it wasn't for love Raghav, my heart knows, none of this is for love" she sobbed, trying hard to not choke on her words
"Pallavi" he whispered, hoarseness visible in his voice. He felt bad for her, but this Raghav had no sense of right or wrong, he did what he wanted. In his blind love for his family, he forgot she had a family too. Like his sister, she was a woman too.
"What have I ever done, to deserve this?" She said looking deep in his eyes
"I promised her, you will agree.." he said looking away
"Of course you would, and then you will prove you were right, I indeed was in love with you..sleeping with you... But what's the need for all this.. why make me a wife Raghav Rao, you have clearly made everyone believe I am your mistress"
"Pallavi" he raised his voice and glared her, not very pleased at her choice of words
"What? Isn't that what you did, you don't like hearing it? Is that why you pity me and want to marry me ?" She pushed him
"Listen, I am giving you one hour, come out and let everyone know you're ready for it" he said not meeting her eyes
"We can tell everyone we were in love and I was just being insecure and I will publicly apologize" He sighed. That's all he could do.
She laughed, at her fate.
"Now if Raghav Rao is here, ordering me around, there must be something Raghav Rao must have planned, in case I don't give into his demands...what is the new trick Raghav?" She said holding him by the collar. He smirked. This woman knew him inside out. Not wasting much of his time, he swiftly moved her. "Nikhil" he smirked. "I will make sure he spends rest of his life behind the bars" he completed.
