Her faith system is so strong that she is ready to block herself off to Adi's very pertinent point nibhaoing rishta with Malini with love for Imlie in his heart would be the biggest beimaani. But she doesn't want to wrap her head around this because if she did, she might have to concede that he has a point. Which would undermine her belief/ faith system again because she would then be tempted to act on this and that would destroy many relationships...As a girl who puts so much stock in faith, she can't destroy the faith of so many people in each other and her.
She thinks she is coming between them, lol. But I would argue that Adi-Malini relationship had an expiry date irrespective of Imlie being in the equation. It would have ended sooner or later cuz Adi-Malini are fundamentally incompatible and on completely different wavelengths as people. Even if Imlie didn't enter their lives, them drifting apart was inevitable.

Imlie is a combination of immense faith as well as naivete/innocence.....I'm not sure what that has to do with questioning her intelligence😆....so a person can't be both intelligent as well as innocent? Imlie is savvy about many other things, but she has never experienced the emotions she's experiencing with Adi before either....so she is navigating it as best as she can.
I actually find it touching that even without the savvy of age and experience, she still expresses what she feels as honestly as she can.....that she can value Adi's emotions for her, express her own to him even if she cannot accept them yet.....there is a sense of discovery about their relationship in both of them....they aren't actively planning how much they should think or feel on any given day to manage the vachan vis a vis what they owe Malini....lol....but what they feel is so deep and pure, it inevitably manifests in simple things like the way they look at each other. She isn't actively trying to make any vachan difficult for Adi or trying to put him in an impossible situation....she is trying to stay true to her beliefs in the middle of such complications.....and let's remember what her basic belief is....that Adi IS her husband...so she will never find it wrong to put on the sindoor her husband gave her or to savor it with a smile, or savor any caring gestures from him.....what she will find wrong is accepting that haq at the cost of Malini....that is what she conveys again and again. Is it an oversimplified way of looking at things? Sure it is....but this is how Imlie always has been.
I think what many people keep struggling with is how Imlie can still consider Adi her husband if she doesn't want to come between him and Malini😆.....again, the answers to all these questions lies in understanding Imlie's belief system which is absolute in terms of what she believes Sita Maiyya has decided for her. Sita Maiyya married her to Adi and that's that....Imlie accepts what SM decides for her but at the same time she has that touch of managing her belief system on her own without imposing it on anyone....that is why she feels she can savor this truth in her heart without it impacting other people and their relationships. You can call it contradictory but this is Imlie at her core. Usko samajhna hai toh iske saath samjho.
And everyone keeps harping about Imlie ki Didi bhakti/prem😆....but mujhe toh ab amusing hi lagta hai....and I did find it kinda sweet that Imlie has the capacity to feel selfless happiness seeing Malini's happiness....shows what a clean heart she actually has....unlike Malini who can never be happy for someone else at the cost of her own happiness. Imlie has the capacity, however naive, to try and put aside her own pain to selflessly wish for someone else's happiness. We can debate it seperately about whether that is fair/unfair to Adi....but at her core, Imlie's capacity for giving is awe-inspiring, especially in contrast to the artificial nature of Malini's attempts to show "generosity" which actually end up being condescending gestures.
