usually, when a person is declared physically disable, then the percentage of mobility of that organ or percentage of vision in case of blindness is considered. is it the same for mental illness as well? a person might be suffering from mental illness but depending on the condition, can he be fit to take his own decision?
I guess it's same, or maybe has to be same. Mental illness is like any other illness, it requires proper treatment and care. But people, generally in India, don't consider it as one. They associate mental illness with being crazy, and the whole thing gets stigmatized, people need to be more empathetic.
And that will come when they have a proper idea about mental health. For instance, when i talked about depression, with people who cared about me, they didn't take it seriously. For them it sort of meant that i was sad and it was a phase. This has originated from the casual usage of the words when people are sad, like "oh i have less marks in the subject, i am so depressed." In the lines of, "oh i am so shocked, i may have a heart attack" But the illness of other organs aren't stigmatized as that of mental health.
Sometimes, certain severity of a mental illness doesn't let the person suffering, decide rationally, in such cases, they are under the care of their guardian. In this case, Devi Tai is in love with Pulkit, but she can't take rational decisions regarding this. Thankfully, Pulkit isn't a bad person, but what if he was? Someone behalf of Tai has to take the decision. She is more like a kid, she knows people have done bad to her, but she can't take decisions.
Here, Sai did it. She is the guardian Tai needed, the guardian angel. But the problem is, she isn't actually her guardian, it's still her mother. I have no idea how she is going to defend that.
