Grey: A shade that must not alter the right or wrong

So, I see a few people complaining about people being mad on Shaurya today and they are explaining how Shaurya is supposed to be grey and he comes with all of these flaws.

First - I absolutely agree. None of the reasoning is wrong.

(And at the same I am surprised seeing how beautiful and sensible people are there in this fd and they try to see things from both sides of the coin. And that's fantastic. Super cool.)

Now, the BUT part.

I feel that even though we are aware that Shaurya is suppose to be like that, we can't really justify when he do things wrong. I mean we can understand that where is he coming from and we can try to find reasons behind his actions BUT we are still free to point out his cons right ?!

Okay he saw ACP, he felt bad or he is in love with her and is confused but that doesn't grant him the permit to treat her according to his will right?!. Plus yelling at Anokhi, that too like that- publically, is not the representation of just jealousy and loss of control here but it definitely signifies how while talking about Anokhi he doesn't see Anokhi justifying things for her own self.

And questioning ACP of his stance and blaming him for such serious offence?!. At what extent is it cool?!

It's crass.

And although that's a shade of his canvas but I think we all are free to pick the colour of our choice.

Having said that, I think mostly all of you are aware that I love Shaurya.

I absolutely absolutely adore my Shara Bear.

But here my point is- the extent of right doesn't make the tinge of wrong a sweet potion of grey to drink.

Ps- Although I posted this in EDT but for some reason couldn't hold myself back from posting it here!

Bang on Post! I know I have already read and responded in the EDT but this discussion deserves a place on the MF so here you go!

Absolutely!

We all want good content and writing but will makers continue to work on it if viewers resign themselves to a character's vices? Why will the CVs make an effort to work on the layers when a tried and tested formula works? Isn't that where makers like Gul have been able to set a toxic pattern just by working on good casting where everything is brushed under the carpet because the "chemistry" is good!

Everyone who has signed up for this show knows that Shaurya is flawed so why get salty if the flaws are acknowledged? Differing opinions is fine but why the intolerance to an opposing opinion? Why are the ones calling out what is wrong as wrong being patronised as "This is just a show" (duh! of course it is which is why people are watching, interpreting and discussing it) or best "He is just human" (and so are Anokhi and Ahir, why should they be subjected to indignity?)

He is human hence the flaw agreed, he is human hence the expectation to acknowledge the mistake and correct it.

This is just entertainment agreed but it is also Art because it involves aesthetic representation, writing and perspectives hence open to interpretation and because the premise of the show promised to address a social message, discourses are bound to happen and should happen because makers themselves have asked for it! They brought in the social aspect and not the viewers and even if we did there is nothing wrong because content comes with responsibility.

Now that there are high hopes that those scenes were probably in his own mind and it would be revealed as a dream, I am still concerned about his thinking process. But it's definitely a progress to not spell it out to other people.

I don't like Ahir either, but today he seemed to be I his limit. I agree this is just a show, but they still need to focus on these inner demons as part of storyline and kill them one by one.

To be very honest, if they could handle this show well, they really did not need any external villian as ghatiya soch could have done the work of being villian. But khair I guess they have external villians somewhere created by Shaurya's own thought process... He was very firm when he said.. He wants a wife who can make him center of her attention... Ab bhugto... The whole meaning of making your spouse centre of attention could result obsessive love like that of Maya from Beyhadh or Viraj from Saubhagyvati bhava... And seems like highly educated Shagun will be on the route and that kind of love is toxic...

I am not sure if that's just the expectation that Shaurya had from his wife or he would also make his wife the center? I have never really seen that in any other Saberwals except for Shaan.

But this all part of the character, his personality, his soch, and that's exactly what was promoted to us. Though at the moment he seems to be supportive of Anokhi's education, he has to continually be that support even when she steps out of SIEC. She has to grow professionally if she has the said professional.. Warna kya karegi woh padhai puri karke SIEC just because Shaurya feels she is a bright student.

Hope makers patiently and logically deal with these issues.

On the side note, it's fun how Anokhi and Shaurya will have a partners who could they consider to be perfect (kind of definitely fits Shaurya's stupid checklist)... But they still choose each other to technically create chaos in life 😆

I don't think it's a dream. I think they just repeated the precap after the episode.

Also, I lowkey don't want it to be a dream. Maybe because when I expect mysogeny from Shaurya I also expect him to lose control like he did today. But what I am here for is to witness some great character development and I am hoping against hope for that.

Plus, the entire reason to make this post was that I don't feel it's right to justify Shaurya's every action by blaming it on his upbringing. Yes we can understand his reasons but to justify his actions based on it is absolitely unfair to every other character.

(Although the way he shouted I was genuinely taken aback. Heck, I legit shivered.)

Also, ACP was nowhere wrong today. They guy was fine.

And even I am excited to see how makers deal with this ...and I hope they will do justice and present a relationship that is not toxic.

I think a lot of people are quick to defend him because of his turbulent upbringing or the sheer love for Shaurya. But, what's wrong is wrong right? I havnt watched the episode yet but seeing him w the butter knife, holding it like that (as if to murder someone...ekkkk), hearing that he yelled at her - all things wrong. Just bc a person is good doesn't mean that their mistakes shouldn't be pointed out to be improved upon. I think that's also one of the things he loves abt Anokhi bc she can take a stand and call him out when he is wrong.

In real life too, when our loved one does something wrong, we call them out as well. We don't 'okay baby there there' them bc we love them. Love comes with all sorts of sweetness as well as toughness so this post is bang on.

Though we love him, his antics cant be excused.

However, I feel like we will see this Shaurya time and time again in diff ways - kal anokhi pe attack kiya toh aaj acp pe. Something else tomorrow. Until he improves and changes for good, we will have to brace for impact...thats if they show his progression..which Im hopeful they will. So I hope there's a nice balance between social message, character progression and love story!

haha exactly! Lord knows how many times i cmplain abt my sister and call out things my parents and sister does (and vice versa). We don't excuse our behavior where we are wrong, that's not being real then.

Absolutely agree with all your posts! A 16 year old can hide behind their upbringing to justify their actions, but they cannot be excused in a 30 year old highly educated college professor in the name of upbringing alone.

Also, how long did it take Shaurya to break his promise to Anokhi - two days? As far as I remember, Anokhi made him promise that he wouldn't assassinate the character of ANYBODY ("sirf mere liye nahi, kisi ke liye bhi aap aise baate nahi karengi"). Not just about her, not just about any woman, but about anyone in general. And today he broke that promise - he lashed out at ACP the same way he had lashed out at Anokhi. He was rude, blind, and abusive. And in the process he insulted Anokhi again. I hope this time too, she shows him the ropes and he does not get away with a simple apology. Also, this time his apology should include Ahir as well.

Honestly, I get that Shaurya is the hero of the show and had a difficult childhood that stunted his emotional growth, but the fact that he's a hypocritical mcp should NOT be brushed under the rug regardless of KV's hotness and Deb and KV's chemistry.

THIS!! Truly, our poor little minds and egos are our own enemies. These deep rooted impact of mindless societal norms and prejudices are enough to play a villain. We need no scheming uncles or eyebrow raised bindi aunties hum khud kaafi hain! (Aatma nirbhar like that) 😁

Yes, everybody is entitled to their opinion. But it’s also important to understand what is right and wrong here. And standing up for what is right ,this applies in any relationship, be it friends, colleagues parent-child, husband-wife, spouse-in Laws. A parent doesn’t hesitate in correcting a child when their behavior is bad! Nobody is saying the child himself/herself is inherently bad. Same with all the talk about Shaurya! When he insulted Anokhi in the library, it was a big no-no for all. But yesterday just because of Ahir’s presence, Shaurya’s words and spite doesn’t become deserving or right!

I am sure everybody supporting Shaurya’s behavior yesterday will run the second they have a husband like him. 😁It is of course easy to romanticize it because hey, he’s handsome, and we know that andar se toh woh bahut accha hain. But living with a misogynistic is far from anything romantic! Which is why we all want him to slowly change, for better, for Anokhi, for who he truly is.
