Part 37

Arjun, Shree and Ayesha took the taxi and drove up the hill while Rathod and Chotu with few other police officers were driving their SUV at some distance from the taxi. Soon Arjun stopped the taxi and silently got out gesturing other, he saw that the middle of the hill is totally dark with no streetlights but could hear soft whispers. They walked ahead for at least half kilometer and finally saw a headlight of a truck is on and many people are guarding around there. While in the middle of the light there were shadows of three people with something sparkling in their hands.

"Deal tou ho rahi hai but ye Rakesh hai ye kaise confirm karenge?" Shree spoke worriedly.

"Shree even if ye Rakesh nahi hai tou bhi ye illegal smuggling ke against action tou lena hi hai, so why not now." Ayesha smiled and said.

"Tum Rathod ka intezaar nahi karogi?" Arjun asked amused while assessing the situation and guarding goons.

Ayesha chuckled sarcastically and said "kyun unse muhurat nikalwana hai?"

Shree controlled his giggle. Arjun said shrugging his shoulder "Fine, let's go. You will be answerable to him. Not me."

They start knocking down few of the dispersed guards silently and had almost reached the middle when a guard in shadow saw them and shouted "Hey, kon ho tum log?" He turned his flashlight towards them. The men in the middle turned and finally noticed them. One of them shouted "Ye tou ETF wale."

Arjun look at that person while Ayesha said "Rakesh tumhara khel khatam, you all are under arrest."

"Arre dekh kya rahe ho shoot them." Rakesh shouted before trying to run with a briefcase in his hands. Soon shooting started around them and they couldn't stop Rakesh but respond. Rakesh ran but was arrested by Rathod, who knocked him out at once and pushed him to a constable. He and Chotu ran toward the gunshot sounds and start fighting. This area is narrow just the breadth of two SUV due to recent landslide and it is also slippery from rain, thus too risky for fighting.

Meanwhile, Riya switched on the tracing device Shree once had gifted her and tried to locate Arjun's mobile. Soon she got the location and asked the driver to drive there fast. At the base of the hill few inspectors stop their taxi and looked at Riya, frowning and said "Madam, ye jagah na tou ghumne ki hai aur naa hi koi ghar ya hospital hai yahan. Tou ap iss time par yahan akele...?"

Riya replied hurriedly "Dekho it's really urgent, I have to reach there right now. Mai abhi ap ko kuch bata nahi sakti hun. So please let me go."

"Arre, please wease kya madam. Ye jagah par abhi police walon ka mission chal raha hai aur most probably encounter bhi tou ap subah hone se pehle wahan nahi jaa sakti hain." Said constable Shirde irritatingly.

"Look, constable Shirde I know exactly what's happening here. Sakshi Anand kahan hai?" Riya asked impatiently.

"Arre kya hai re, tujhe kaise pata hamari madam ka nam. Woh abhi ek backup force ko bhejwa rahi hain, tumhe usse kya? Kon ho re tum?" Constable asked squinting at Riya keenly.

Riya took out her badge and showed them before saying irritatedly "Now get away, I am in a hurry. Driver drive fast."

Constable look askance as the inspector hurriedly pull him away from the taxi and said "Sorry. Sorry madam."

The taxi took off again, while the inspector heaved a sigh in relief before turning to the constable and said "Tujhe pata bhi hai tune kisse panga liya hai?"

Constable asked "Kon hai? Aur kiska bacha pait mei liye bhag rahi hai iss time."

"Arre bewakoof, ye Riya Mukherjee hain Riya Mukherjee, senior inspector Mukherjee. ACP Arjun Rawte ki dusri biwi aur unka bacha hai wo, izzat se baat kar. Marna hai kya re tujhe!" Inspector shouted.

"Kya kaha?" Sakshi asked confused as she heard his last words.

"Madam, Riya madam aayi hain abhi-abhi cross kiya hai." Inspector replied shocking Sakshi out of her wits. She knew the situation of the crime scene as she was asked to send more backup just now and Riya is going there.

"Oh No!! STOP HER." Sakshi shouted as she tried to call her or others to inform them but no one received her call. Soon the taxi returned and inspector exclaimed seeing it "Sakshi ma'am, ye tou Riya madam ki taxi hai."

"Riya kahan bolo jaldi?" Sakshi asked the driver. "Arre madam ye gadi ka wada bas yahin tak ka tha aur iss gadi ka engine bhi kamzor hai slope nahi chadh pati hai iss liye madam wahin utar gayi." Replied the driver.

"Oh God! What do I do? It's too dangerous. Riya!" Sakshi whispered holding her head, trying to think for a solution.

Riya tried to speed up, it's still two kilometres to reach them and she is already very tried and her legs have started to get numb. When she stopped to breathe, she saw a truck standing ahead of her. Seeing a hope, Riya walked fast and knocked on the driver's door. Driver step down and asked "Ji?"

"Bhaiya ji kya ap agey jaa rahe hain?" Riya asked impatiently.

"Arre kahan ji, police walon ne mana kiya hai. Woh keh rahe hain koi raid ho rahi hai tou aagey abhi khatra hai isliye subah hi nikal payenge apun log." Driver told agitated.

Riya showed him her badge and asked pleadingly "Can I please take your truck? I have to reach there right now, it's very urgent. Please let me bhaiya ji!"

"Par madam ji, ap iss halat mei kaise..? Aur aise mei apko truck chalani bhi aati hai?" Drive asked confused looking at her head to toe.

Riya smiled slightly and said hurriedly "I'll managed, you don't worry. Ap bas ye number lijiye aur iss card ko dikha kar apni truck wapas lene aajayega agar maine subah tak apko phone nahi kiya tou. Thankyou thankyou so much."

Taking the keys, she tried to climb on the driver's seat. Driver nearly had an heart attack on seeing it before hurriedly helping Riya to climb on and wiped his sweat saying "madam ji, apna dhyaan rakho iss halat mei aur agey rasta bohut kharaab hai kaho tou mai apke saath hi chalun?"

Riya shook her head and said starting the engine "Nahi bhaiya ji mai apko itne danger mei nahi daal sakti. Don't worry, it's alright."

Driver sighed as the truck went ahead. Riya drove it and started feeling her legs being numb while she felt pain in her stomach because of continuous hit with steering wheel. She look around the passenger seat, found one used pillow and put it between her belly and steering wheel. She tried to call Shree, Chotu and Arjun's number continuously before thinking of something, she called an assistant in ETF and asked them to send her Rakesh's number. Getting the number, she dial it and got lucky as Rakesh sitting in the police van had switch his mobile on, to call someone for help.

On seeing an unknown number, Rakesh recieved it mistakenly but as he saw one constable coming towards him, the phone fell from his hand in fear and he couldn't find it again because of the darkness and cursed his bad luck. But Riya could hear what's happening there, she heard alot of gunshots and her heart started beating wildly. Putting on speaker, she concentrate on driving fast. Soon she felt a hard contraction in her abdomen and gritted her teeth accelerating the engine. But next she heard a loud shout from her phone "Rawte/Arjun Sir!"

Her heart sank while her vision turned blur. Darkness started spreading infront of her, the dim street light was fading but soon she regained her consciousness as she saw a body fell right infront of the truck causing her to break urgently. She tried to calm herself looking down at the body and saw it was someone from the goons.

Riya climbed down the truck and gasped loudly as another contraction hit all of sudden, but she heard another loudest scream from right above her almost stopping her heartbeat for a moment.

As soon as Rakesh lost his phone, during a fight the boss of the foreign smuggler shoot at Arjun from behind and Ayesha, Shree, Chotu and Rathod shouted his name to warn him. Arjun turned their way but the bullet hit him below his shoulder, he shoot the boss gritting his teeth before stepping back due to pain as earlier his bullet-proof jacket got tore during the fight with a dagger holding goon.

Everyone sighed in relief as bullet didn't hit his heart and got in the fight again. ETF was trying to get some of them imprisoned, not killed but the situation isn't as simple as they thought.

Soon they had an upper hand and had almost knocked down most of them when out of nowhere that boss regained his consciousness and pushed his man at Arjun who was trying to stabilize his breathing near the edge of the cliff. The man fell down the cliff while everyone scared out of their wits, shouted "Arjun sir/Rawte!!"

Arjun held the edge engraved rock trying to climb up again but that boss stood up and stamped of Arjun's hand before trying shoot him again. Seeing the gun pointed at his head, Arjun hurriedly released his hands and fell down. Rathod empty his bullets in the head of that boss before running towards the edge as others did and saw Arjun fell inside the truck which gave them a slight hope. They all ran towards their SUV and Rathod drove it fast. Meanwhile calling Liza to send an ambulance urgently.

As Riya heard the shout for Arjun, her legs gave up trembling as she slid down on the road beside the truck. Even before she could gather herself, she heard something dropped in the truck with a loud thump, followed by soft whispers "...Riya!"

Understanding that it's Arjun, her heart sank and she lost her consciousness as an overwhelming pain from her abdominal contraction succumbed in.

Soon, ETF reached there and were shocked to see unconscious Riya lying beside the truck. Ambulance also arrived around the same time, Liza came out of it hurriedly and ran towards Riya very shocked. Ayesha and Liza tried to wake Riya up scared of her condition while Rathod and Shree climbed behind the truck saw the trunk was full of cotton mattresses, they sighed in relief and hurriedly moved closer to Arjun and found him unconscious maybe due to blood loss.

"Chotu!!" Rathod and Shree shouted simultaneously. Chotu came in just then and Rathod said "Hurry up!"

Chotu and Rathod took Arjun out of the truck and put him on the stretcher bed. Meanwhile Shree rush towards Riya and brought another stretcher with constable before sending her inside the ambulance beside Arjun.

Everyone sighed worriedly and thought 'Both Arjun and Riya are too stubborn and truly a perfect match. Everytime in danger, they are together.'

"Rathod sir, ap aur Chotu, sakshi ko lete hue ambulance ke sath jayein. Hum log yahan sab dekh leinge." Shree said hurriedly.

"Haan Sameer, yahan hum sambhalenge, you go." Ayesha said patting his shoulder to calm him.

Rathod nodded, drove away with Chotu while Sakshi sat in the ambulance and put her dupatta on Arjun shoulder, trying stop the blood gushing out of his wound. And splash water on Riya, trying hard to wake her up which was seemingly impossible.

Soon they reached hospital and were taken to different OTs.
