Actually she should go to American Idol, there she’ll know how bad she is when the judges don’t mollycoddle her.

Yes, she sings rock, she can yodel, but I don’t think she’s a good singer. You can have average rockstars and yodelers (if that’s even a word).

Her singing reminds me of an animal farm unleashed.

It begins with a duck quack followed by cats screaming and dogs howling.

The whole situation is so comical.....

Cacophony is passed of as music....hahaha

And of course, no one is right or wrong about that (unless you're an expert in music). It's just difference of opinion.

SMP always overdoes it. I get that she has a skill which she's developed but we don't need it every time. Forget the style of singing, her voice isn't pleasant to my ears at all.

Everyone compares her to Kishore Da with respect to yodelling but I have never heard Kishore Da yodelling in all his songs. He reserved it for special songs and could actually sing many many genres.

SMP is limited and forever will be limited. If she were a force to reckon with, she would've already been an internet sensation or signed a record deal. We do have YouTube based artists that are doing very well in music...SANAM for example. She does nothing really except dragging on the song with her gimmicks to the extent that you'd forget the song she was singing. Plus she's damaging her vocal cords, whisper notes and yodelling is not to be overdone and over practiced.

You can’t even compare Danish to SMP. Danish deserves all the hype plus more because he is one of the most versatile and best singer.

Thank you for mentioning SANAM. I'm a huge fan of their work. They know how to recreate old songs properly. Not SMP.

Seeing SANAM, I also think that these singers don't need to come into Bollywood playback singing to be successful. Seeing how the Kakkars, Tanishk Baghchi, and Badshah are ruling the music industry rn with their remakes and such, I doubt many of these singers could make it big in Bollywood anytime soon, unless we have a music revolution. They should focus on their own independent music or expand their horizons into web or OTT platforms. The last breathtaking soundtrack I heard was for Bandish Bandits (by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy), an Amazon Prime show.

Dont really enjoy her singing. Honestly didnt even enjoy it when she was a child.

And its not coz of western style .. Her voice is just not pleasing to the ears. I liked Jannabi.. Years ago loved Mauli Dave in SRGMP.. M no expert in music but as a layperson listening to music I would love to hear them again n again.. But not Shanmukh's songs. It just hurts the ears. Maybe the expert judges n guests can understand her talent, the nuances in her singing.. I dont..

Has she ever been paired with Arunita? Would be worth listening.

Side note: someone mentioned bandish bandits.. Awesome awesome 🎶

Theres been an influx of Punjabi music in Bollywood and its been terrible. Punjabi genre was done right by Daler Mehendi, this young gen gang is screwing up every damn song, original or remake.

I love SANAM too, they are so very good! Sanam Puri sings so well. I am glad they have their own niche although I wish more people would know about them. At the moment any talented individual entering Bollywood will be a disaster looking at how things have become. The music industry needs another QSQT in order to revive melody...you remember how the disco era of the 80s was ended by a group of newcomers at the time.

Independent music had picked up once in the 90s when we had Sonu Nigam's indie albums, Euphoria, Aryans, Viva, Band of Boys etc but labels crushed them in order to control the industry Our music industry was really kicking off to international levels at that time but our producers and label owners are shit greedy. However thanks to music streaming platforms and YouTube we might finally see a change.

If and I say "if" was to appear on American Idol or UK's X-Factor, she will not make it beyond audition round. Simon Cowell as one of the judges would be interesting where am sure he will not spare with his words. Then SMP will have a reality check. My opinion, no offence.

In Jeetendra & Ekta Kapoor episode, she will be more hyped as she will increase her screeching and yodelling to jumping jack's songs. I know what I'll do. Mute the sound when she is singing 😆

Every country has that one star the singing sensation, in the modern generation now, nobody really likes the melodious slow beautiful soothing music that we love and grew up listening to in the 90s.

SMP is that modern generation singing sensation who will become India's pop star and rock star with her own mix in the songs where she can change her tones, her singing style at will.

The last singing star India had was Sunidhi Chauhan and over the years, SMP is the only one close to breaking the Sunidhi barrier.

As old singers age and have their limits, this is where SMP will find success.

Her singing style, her tones, her yodelling, her pop star performances will sell out a crowd.

After the pandemic when concerts and shows will begin, this is where SMP will find success. She wont get movie contracts, she will get songs in her genre to sing mainly from Vishal, couple from Anu Malik but it will be people like Baadshah and Yo Yo Honey Singh that will get SMP the work.

SMP may be over hyped but she does perform sensationally and does set the stage on fire.

At that young age to be re-creating and playing with music at the level she does in all her performances especially on the spot I think is a credible talent to have.

I am not her hater but I am not her biggest fan either.

I grew up in the 90s so the 90s songs and singers and composes will forever be in my heart as the best era of music.

Arunita, Sayli, Pawandeep these are all great naturally gifted singers and Sireesha too.
