His first dialogue made me think like that too. Then i watched it over and over and applied logic. Just think if he had done it, rani would get to know. She is intelligent and she will never have food from home until the mission is over. Might never ever let him treat her.

I think Kumud's truth will come out a little later. They will drag her truth a bit too, like they dragged the accident truth. Later when Ranisa will lose focus on Veer and is about to unintentionally hurt him, then Kumud's truth will come out.
