This again sort of ties back to one of my fav. conversations b/w Adi-Imlie at the hospital....when Imlie tells him all these symbols of marriage have meaning only if you assign faith to them....otherwise it's just a dhaaga....if he wants to believe it's a dhaaga, that is what it will become for him. She has long since resigned herself to the fact that all these symbols of their marriage mean nothing to him.....she's never pressured him to accept them either.

Which is why in Monday's epi when Adi starts feeling hurt or upset for the first time over the idea of her removing her sindoor/MS, it's precisely because the faith crystallized for him in that moment.....he believed in the symbols of their marriage because he now believed in their marriage. Otherwise as he was thinking to himself also, all this sindoor/MS stuff never mattered to him before.....it only took on meaning when it got attached to Imlie. Yes, he married Malini with those rituals too but I don't think any of those rituals, those symbols ever really registered on him as deeply as they have in Imlie's case.....he checked off the box with Malini.....while in Imlie's case, every symbol is an article of faith to him now.

He was doing that in every function, mehendi ho, engagement ho, ya shaadi... He was first making sure that she is around before proceeding and do you remember the way he went crazy on Malini's cousin. Almost similar to the recent sugarcane se dhulai. That time he had put it across that he would do the same for anybody but there was more intensity due to Imlie 😆

I also think Sindoor and MS started registering for him because in the initial days, they reminded him about his marriage to her. The denial always became reality at that bus stop. Also, Imlie always referenced them to indicate her belief and to stress the point that why this rishta is important to her even though its not for him. So he associated those things as a symbol of his rista with her. Now that he wants the rishta and the rishta has become important to him, than the symbols also have become important to him because without them Imlie will not be his.

I will stick to.onky these threads that is if AY keeps.making them baaki I can't be bothered mere pe toll le raha hai and I don't want to.miss and ruin my viewing experience of a.wonderful show based on so much nonsense that becomes too difficult to.filter. I prefer sticking to what is in the episode / bts and be happy about it 😊 so yeah that is kind of a bye

That’s sweet of you and no it’s okay I agree with you that these additional pressure can add to the viewing experience. It’s been fun when the guesses are light hearted.

But thank you so much for taking the time and engaging us with the show and endless possibilities. The thread has helped meet wonderful people and that’s what I cherish the most from it 🤗 so a big thank you.

As for the negatives have long learnt to ignore as I have been through this personally and it never changes. It’s only a show with a try on bringing out bigger issues which otherwise people tend to ignore.😊

That’s what imlie has become a voice of change on tv and emotions we have never seen question before 😊

@bold: Yes, that was definitely part of his aversion to the sindoor/MS too....it reminded him of the fact that he's married to her and he wanted to deny its validity....so he denied any validity to the sindoor/MS too.

But my point was more general than that....I feel like he just never assigned validity to things like sindoor/MS in general.....like he's of that modern/practical frame of mind where he focuses on practical things rather than trying to find meaning in rituals or symbols. So that is where I feel like sindoor/MS as associated with Malini also never really was a big deal for him ki oh these symbols make her my wife....uske liye he it was always more about the general responsibility towards Malini as his wife rather than association with the symbols/rituals.

It is with Imlie that he is beginning to attach meaning to articles of faith....and these symbols of their marriage are like articles of Imlie's faith and belief system to him so that is why he is also finding faith in them....that is the sense I got from the scenes this week, unless I'm overthinking....😆. Might need to go back and rewatch some of the early epis of the Adi-Malini wedding phase also but if I recall, he was never hung up on these things then also.....pehli baar woh ek MS ke liye lad raha hai toh sirf Imlie ki wajah se....cuz it's Imlie's faith and a symbol of their marriage.

Re: the engagement/mehendi.....lol yes he was finding ways to check up on Imlie then also....and yeah he was ready to murder that guy who tried to harass Imlie then also but again, there were always other people around to react so Adi could pull back his reactions....that guy managed to escape only cuz he was Malini's cousin....lol and usko AC se bhi prasad mil gaya.....but by the current stage, Adi is much more far gone and kisi ko nahin chhodega ab agar Imlie ko kisi ne bhi tang kiya....nothing can beat the ganna dhulaai🤣

Jokes apart...when i read this and how focused he is on getting her back... he was the similar way when he was getting married to Moon. He was not thinking about anything or the repercussions, he just wanted to do it and the main reason I think was his ego. Like he told Imlie once that she does know how humiliating it was for him to be put on the gunpoint and and the decision of his fate taken away from you. I think marrying Moon was his way of getting rid of that feeling of helplessness and the power of decision was taken away from him. This way he was the decider of his fate and to hell with consequences because he was in denial. Now he has to "bhukto"

In regards, to Imlie, I think he has not given up yet. Whenever they tell him that he has to go to Delhi, he is not responding. So either he is confident that she will come with him or as you said, he has compartmentalize it. Wonder what that bus ride will be like when he is alone... Waise PD se jaate waqt he is always crying 😆, first time was he got married, second was ambulance and now might be judaai.

Anyways, reality is waiting for him back home, lets see what impact it brings on this person who has all but forgotten that he has a house and family back home. Joote mooh ek baar bhi he is not thinking about mother, father, moon bas Imlie ke peeche peeche laga pada hain 😆 Not that I am complaining but its just surprising. I guess that is another comparison that he was restless without Imlie but he is restful without Malini 😆
