- yesterday I re watched the sequence from Imlie's birthday where Adi invites her in his room, I have always found that sequence so beautiful- with him guiding her, she closing her eyes with full vishwas and Malini following them. In that moment ,the three of them having no idea how their lives are going to be tangled. But when I watched it this time I had a perspective, a hope from Malini's character. It almost felt like she will be the beacon of their relationship. I might be completely off here, but just that whole scene, that ray of light that comes through and Malini although being a blur, almost like supporting them...

@bold: I think that's where it will go in the long run....ultimately Malini will have to free them both from their guilt regarding her and make them feel unburdened enough to be together without feeling like they're hurting someone.

But getting to that point will take a long time I think so I'm not thinking about it yet....Malini will likely go through many crazy rounds of insecurity and breakdowns before that. And in that particular scene, I didn't see her as a beacon of light....lol she seemed more like a bystander who got left behind as Adi-Imlie moved forward together.....she wasn't supporting them - she was watching Adi the whole time like she couldn't figure out what he was doing.....lol....so that's what I feel will happen for a while....she will struggle with processing what's happening....support toh door ki baat hai. She isn't emotionally or mentally strong for that yet.....and it remains to be seen if/when she ever will be.

That could be it too, but I think this journey, will make Malini stronger. After all there will be two truths that will break her down to the core where the only resurrection will be to be brave. She has seen her parents marriage and what it did to their family and her insecurities. When she asks Adi what he is doing in her ishaara and Adi just says follow me type ka ishara, she is confused. But then there is second there where she realizes what he is doing and smiles, ofcourse only to have the blank expression with them stepping together into the room..but I think that was mainly for the drama effect..:). Also I am not one of the regular ITV viewers but just think they will make Malini mahan for the sake of it!

Again just a rambling...everytime I revisit their scenes as the story progresses, I notice some nuances..maybe that is just me reading too much into them. But kya karen- some of these scenes have been shot with such poignancy and subtlety...uff!

I can just imagine the scene now....family waale or Malini about to give clothes to Dhobi.....Adi bhaaga bhaaga aayega SLOW MOTION mein just like in the bridge scene and he will JUMP over various furniture pieces to get to them to STOP them from giving his cherished white shirt with sindoor daag to the dhobi🤣

Lekin use yeh nahin pata hoga ki yeh sirf ek shirt nahin hai Aditya ke liye 😆

I don't have anything against Malini but at this particular moment, her "journey" is of least interest to me in this story😆. And no, this isn't because I find her to be an impediment in Adi-Imlie's relationship or journey.....this is just from a general disconnect I feel with her character.

I know many people here have spoken about how they want to see Malini rising up, becoming strong etc. etc. but I just don't find her as interesting a character as Adi or Imlie....and again, it's not cuz they are both perfect characters or never make mistakes....but their nuances and their journeys are just so much more compelling.

As GM rightly put it in an interview, Malini is mostly one-dimensional and one-dimensional characters don't interest me. I'm sure Malini will evolve at some point but the thing is - what they've shown of her so far....the obliviousness, the twisted guilt tripping and need for coddling, the selfishness....and worst of all in my eyes - the TOKEN push backs against her mother to try and act like she takes a "stand" for Adi and their relationship but doesn't really do much....lol...all these things irritate me too much to care how she evolves....lol

The only person making Malini watchable IMO is Mayuri....otherwise she's become a very pakaau character and I think whenever her "evolution" happens, unless they give her some consistency, yeh aisi hi rahegi.

Haha@ pyar aayega....that reminds me, she rained all those I love you's on him on the phone and he couldn't respond😆. Do you think when he comes back and she says it to him again face to face ki "I love you", will Adi be able to respond with an I love you (chaahe token mush hi sahi) or will he deflect again?😆

The degree of act Adi manages to put up in front of Malini when he returns will determine a lot of where this is headed😆.

One of the continuing themes of this PD trip and Adi's realization have been his fear of losing Imlie.

This was touched upon again in yesterday's epi in the tone in which he said, "Tum humaare saath nahin aana chahti"?.....oh man, it's worth taking a step back many times to remember that the guy who never cared where ANYONE was coming or going😆.....isko bas apne aane jaane se matlab hota tha....that guy now is shown always with this vulnerability in his eyes regarding the fact that Imlie can leave him.

Throughout his relationship with Malini, Adi kept claiming that Malini gives him space, gives him understanding, never questions when he has to leave for work. He gave her pampering, mush when she asked for it....but I never once saw a vulnerability in him that he may lose Malini.

I've seen him worried for her health, worried that she may be hurt, worried that the truth will shatter her.....but none of that worry ever matched up to this feeling that completed undoes him even at the THOUGHT of Imlie leaving or not being with him.

It's all ofcourse been triggered by the fact that Imlie showed the courage and resolve to leave him.....and she didn't do it in anger or to prove a point to him....she did it all with honesty....clearly letting him know at every step why she's leaving him even though she considers herself attached to him. And that very thing undid him.

This entire time in PD, he's been asking Imlie in a zillion roundabout ways ki tum waapis naahin chalogi? Tum chahti ho hum chale jaayein?....it's all been connected to the same basic vulnerability....the vulnerability that comes with loving someone so much that you can't live without them....and you fear losing them.

Adi experiences this vulnerability more acutely than Imlie because he's never loved anyone/anything in life enough to fear losing it before. Imlie on the other hand has loved and lost many things in her life so she has the emotional strength to leave....and that's what she did. But Adi hasn't been able to reconcile to that....that how could Imlie leave him after everything.

And I think this will remain a lingering vulnerability in him for a long time....that if Imlie could leave him once, she can leave him again😆.....he will keep coming back to this point in different ways....either pleading with her or taunting her over it.....but that will always be his hurt that she left him....lol....until the time comes when Imlie promises him that she will never leave him.

This contrast was touched on slightly in his FB about Malini where they talk about how you fear losing someone if you truly love them.....but I don't know if it's fully connected consciously in Adi's mind yet that this is what he's feeling only for Imlie, not Malini.....the irony is that Malini also left his house but I doubt even when he goes back and learns this, if he will ever feel the vulnerability he feels over losing Imlie.

I think his main fear stems from the fact that he has already experienced what it feels to live in the house where she is not there and he did not like it at all. It felt like a prison for him and who likes to go back to a prison. Initially it was the circumstance and then Imlie herself, who gave him the freedom to express himself in the most basic way, where he does not need to act or need to be AKT or AKT, the journalist. In front of her, he is just the BBSB whose all faults, all shortcoming are exposed and accepted. With her there is no societal pressure that he needs to behave in a certain way or speak in certain way, he is his raw self. . He is never got that from anybody and as he said she has become his aadat and zaroorat because if she is not there and then who will he go to unload. Habit you can break but "zarrorat/need" is a whole different thing and hence the fear, that how will he live without this person who he "needs" the most in his life.

Re Malini, I think she has never reached Aditya or even knows Aditya at that level. She knows this facade that he wears and she loves that facade. Whenever the mask comes out and the true self is shown, she gets upset or says that things have changed. I guess this might also be the reason that Aditya has never even tried to show his true self because it might have not been accepted or created issues. So he just let things continue as he has lived that way his whole life. Now that he has experience life without facade he is reluctant to go back to that existence.

Also, in this relationship Imlie has always been one step ahead than him but in terms of feelings Aditya is ahead of her and where he knows that she is his zaroorat, he also knows that he is not her "zaroorat", that she can live without him and that is where his major fear stems from, that he might not hold the same place in her heart like she does and hence as you said, this vulnerability will always stay with him till Imlie confirms that its him that matters to her and not because he is the husband,

I do think that though he has accepted her decision she might not come along, he has still not come to terms with it. His "uttrahu" face tells its own story.

Do you remember if his non-response during the call registered with her? I forget.

I do not think he will ever return any I Love You from her anymore. He will deflect and it might take a while before she registers. He has subconsciously already flipped their roles in his head (rather placed them in their right places) so whatever he does in the name of this relationship will be to make sure she does not feel she has anything to complain about. But little does he know that bare minimum was never enough for Malini so anything lesser than that is only going to lead to worse reactions

@bold: THIS. And it's just such a fascinating thing to watch unfold na? 😆....He has recognized she is his need, he has even TOLD her she is his need.....lol but she has shown that he isn't her need yet...that she can live without him😆....and that's a bitter pill to swallow for him right now. It just also stems from how their personalities are also fundamentally different.....Imlie is a person whom life has taught with many hard knocks what it is to lose and keep moving forward even after loss. Adi has never faced loss like she has....so he is struggling with it more. He is experiencing this fear for the first time and it will stay with him until Imlie is able to give him that assurance that she won't leave him.

In any other show, when the FL accepts someone as her husband and tells him she will always be his wife only, that usually works enough for a reassurance😆....but yahaan kahaani ulti hai. Imlie never budges from her stance that he is her husband and she will always only consider herself to be his wife....but at the same time she is willing to live her life by herself without him.....lol that's what keeps Adi restless in this fear of losing her....ki here he is coming undone without her and there she's like "bye bye, ab jaayiye".😆

So true about Malini too....she loves a facade of Adi but neither her nor Adi fully realize that yet. He needs to start displaying his true self in Delhi also for this realization to come about. PD otherwise is always like an alternate universe where he shows his true self and then bottles everything up back in Delhi again😆.....hopefully he won't be able to do that this time.
