Who said he is less famous? Even Kishore Kumar, Lata ji and Mohd Rafi in their early 20s rated Sonu a 10/10 on playback singing.They all grew up following his songs and wanted to be singers because of him. Many of their songs were originally supposed to be sung by Sonu but he was kind enough to let others sing. Sonu is the best singer and that's a FACT.

May be he faded away over time whereby other new singers started to get more offers. It's like he faded away just like Alka, Udit, Kumar Sanu and Abhijeet.

in 2013 when he took stance against illegal music contracts ,,,,, which says 70 percent of amount a singer will earn from concert will be given to music companies ...since then music companies and labels boycotted him ...Zee music banned him.....music label didnt buy albums in which had sung so his songs has to be dubbed by other singers .in 2013 Sonu annouuced his retirement

Singer Sonu Nigam tweeted a dozen times on December 13th in what seems to be a major issue with the contract he has signed with music company T-series for his films. Apparently Shekhar Suman’s directorial venture ‘Heartless’ seems to have been caught in the tussle too.

After a tussle with music company T-series, Sonu Nigam hastily announced his retirement that left his ardent fans shocked and worried and expressed his displeasure over some contractual issues.

Music labels banned sonu but Salman and Sonu also had an issue to singers and music fraternity demanding royalties ....according to salman khan its the actor faces used in songs to make songs popular he said what money does musicians asking for, around 2013 bahi said he dont need sonu nigam or any other playback singers to croon for me i can croon my own songs ...
