I believe the movie ‘Bewafaa’ rings a bell. Kareena went from being an ek dilruba hai to an ek bewafa hai pretty damn quickly. Movie was more of a drama genre but the ridiculousness of the plot made it a comedy for me.

Quite a good point - shows the obvious, ingrained patriarchical setup of Bollywood
One movie does it right though - anyone remember Judaai 😂. Sridevi pimping out hr simpleton husband (Anil Kapoor) for money. I still find the idea and the execution of that movie hilarious.
Not an obvious comedy but more a dark comedy...andhadhun
Tabus lack of moral compass disposing off her husbands body with her lover helping her was hilarious 😂...
The famous piano scene

Yeah ...what was even that...
Why was marrying Anil imp anyway? Only to take care of her sis's kids....It was not at all necessary!!!
I just read the plot lol...She started loving her husband after he asks her to choose🤔....hum dil de chuke?/

Bewafa is a remake of Gumrah (1963) and the sentiments of the heroine totally makes sense if you consider the time period. At that time it was considered unexceptional for a woman to marry her BIL so that the sister's kids do not get treated badly if he marries someone outside the family. By the same token if a young woman is left a rich widow, the husband's family often urges a BIL to marry her to keep the wealth in the family. We see that in Sanya Malhotra's Pagglait and in Hema Malini-Rishi Kapoor starrer Ek Chadar Maili Si.
Mala Sinha who played Kareena's character is essentially angry with her husband for not giving the time, attention and respect which he had given her sister -his first wife. She entered the marriage willing to give her 100% but her husband still treats her like an indulgent child. It was at this juncture that her old lover coerces her back to resuming their affair. Once she gets her husband's attention, she kicks him to the curb.
my favorite movie of all time, wish they do more comedy movies like this. Rimi aftab Akshay and everyone in the movie is amazingIt was not paresh rawal’s wife. Paresh rawal thought his wife is having an affair with akshay khanna. Aftab’s landlords wife fell for him and wanted to run away with him🤣
